I had a friend who took his wife to the Galapagos Islands. She was a biology teacher. But I think that Easter Island would be a much more fascinating place to visit. When I was a boy I read a book about it.

Both are fascinating but in completely different ways. Rapa Nui for those statues, and as a study of the results of an unsustainable society, and the Galápagos Islands as a kaleidoscopic display of natural history and geology. It takes longer to do the Galápagos justice.
