In another thread someone mentioned Gramercy Park. Anyone familiar with the concept of a private park? An interesting idea.

There are a lot of similar ideas all over the place. Gated communities with playgrounds, pools, etc. that are accessible only to residents....and paid for out of HOA fees. It's the same general idea, just on a smaller scale.

I grew up in San Marino Cal. We had a private park. It was for use of residents of the city only ie north of The Drive.

Portman Square Garden in London was begun c. 1780 and is still privately used by the residents of Portman Square.

Thank-you! That article mentioned the park has a statue of Aristides the Just. I was not familiar with him.
