Anyone else enjoy "So You Think You Can Dance"? I am not dance-saavy, but amazing talent is there. It can be emotional.

Yes - I've been watching it from the get-go. Tremendous eye-candy.

 

One of the real hotties (Jaymz - strange spelling) was voted off last week by the "head judge" an arrgant rude Brit called Nigel.

 

Tonight he told the hottest one remaining, Dmitry, who did a great dance to Jailhouse Rock complete with open shirt and jeans so low you could almost see pubic hair, that his dance was the shits (or words to that effect) and that he had to do more than show his abs to continue in the contest.

 

Well that shows how much Nigel knows, because I think that by continuing to show his abs he could end up the winner. He'd get my vote for sure!

 

Bet that Nigel is a bitter old queen who is pissed that all he can do is LOOK at Dmitri's abs. The expresion on Dmitri's face said "Fuck You"

I love this show too. Besides there is nothing much else to watch, except for the highly entertaining "Project Runway" on Bravo. I have a total crush on Dmitry. His smoldering, and sexual expressions and the way he "works" the crowd with his pecs and abs are always fun, plus he is an amazingly talented dancer. His big smile he flashes is so cute too ,when he is finished with his routine, and the crowd and judges go wild . I also felt the same way about Season 1 and loved the sexy Russian Artem, and the adorable Craig De Rosa. All of the kids on the new Season 2 are incredible dancers. It's a fun, old fashioned t.v. entertainment show. It kind of reminds me of "Fame" or "A Chorus Line". Any of the girls or guys that are remaining on the show now could go on to have great careers in dance troops or on Broadway.

 

I only wish Dmitry escorted! can you imagine sliding all over his silky body, and feeling him slide all over yours

Actually, I don't think the picture does him justice. He looks much sexier when you see him move around the stage - especially with his shirt open!

 

I noticed that "Judge Nigel" made disparaging comments again about him showing off his abs. GET A LIFE, NIGEL DEAREST. Even went so far as to praise another dancer for NOT having his shirt open. He obviously has a real problem with it.

TOO SAD - Dmitry was eliminated from the competition tonight. Voted off by the American public. Duhhhhhh???

 

There are some cuties left by none of them are hotties. Dmitry was an original. As his last treat for us he ripped his shirt off. (again)

I'm also sad that Dmitri was voted off. And I've very much enjoyed his wardrobe and the sight of that magnificent chest.

 

However, on the other hand, I can understand where Nigel is coming from. As we can see from other "reality" contests, the winner can often be the most popular and not necessarily the most talented. Granted, all of the dancers are quite gifted, but I think Nigel is concerned that the "desire" for Dmitry to show skin was more important to some people than the dance itself. In the case of Benji, I think Nigel just wanted to point out that great dancing doesn't need a gimmick ... whether it's wheels on the shoes or showing some skin. In my honest opinion, I think he had a valid point.

 

The other thing I'm "sad" about with this show is that the majority of male dancers this year almost seem to have to pretend they're straight to get the vote of all the adoring female fans.

Well, there goes my wednesday night eye candy. Dmitry was the only hunky "Man" left dancing. The rest of the guys are very talented as well, but too skinny and boyish looking for my tastes. I thought he had enough raw dance talent and personality to go much farther, and showing his skin was not so much a gimmick, as just part of who he is. The were a couple of other guys last season that danced shirtless quite often and Nigel didn't say a word to them.

 

I guess the teen girl demographic that picks up their phones and votes must like the skinny boys better. Ivan,Benji, and Travis are all excellent dancers ( and probably all gay as well) and all the dancers and judges seemed stunned and were crying over Dmitry's cast off. Did you see the way Ivan egged him on to take off his shirt on his final dance and then leaped into his arms and even wrapped his legs around his waist and clung to his shirtless torso like a koala bear in heat at the very end of the show? In fact the whole group surround him and group grope and hug.

I saw the show. Tivo left the tuner set to that channel.

 

He's certainly attractive, but jeez he's not all THAT. I wouldn't throw him out of bed of course, but he's not worth a period of national mourning. Just like in porn, there's always someone just a little younger, just a little more buff, or just a little more willing. <shrug>

 

But it got me thinking. We have "reality" contests about a lot of things. We have American Idol for singers. There's the dance show. There's even a contest that's not particularly about anything (America's got talent).

 

Bravo has contest shows like Top Chef and Project Runway, and a new one about personal trainers.

 

How long before someone like Logo chimes in with "America's Best Go-Go Dancer?" Seems to me it would be a killer in the ratings. }(

 

We'd need judges: a bitchy Brit, a fag hag, and the sincere but hapless mensch. And we'd need judging criteria. And a strangely androgynous host.

 

What would be your casting suggestions? }(

been there,done that...VH1 already did a reality show last summer about a bunch of hot guys competing for slots on a all male strip go-go boy troop. it was called "strip search" and discussed here last summer. I think even more on another thread I could not find. here was the one I started last year. what can I say, I like stupid competition/entertainment shows where the guys are cute and take their shirts off a lot, and then get pissed when the ones I think are hot are voted off...guess I am guilty of turning into a silly high school girl in the middle of the hot, boring summer when t.v. sucks and there is nothing else on. It's time to start watching more dvds.

Well, I'm sitting here watching Roddick/Ginepri play tennis. Same diff.

 

Given your ... err ... interests, set your DVR for "Falcon Beach" on ABC Family. It's a typyical insipid "family" series, but the cast is young and REALLY easy on the eyes. And it's set in a beach community so they're shirtless and wet a lot of the time.

I can't. Nigel should just get over himself - or better still, head back to old Blighty. He has often said that as well being a good dancer, they also had to be able to entertain. Well Dmitri could do that in spades.

 

How's this for a scenario? Nigel was lusting for Dmitri and made it known to him. Dmitri told him to fuck off (would YOU want to bed the wizzened old Queen?) and Nigel had it in for him. IMHO not impossible......

Entertaining theory BUT---the tv audience supposedly voted Dmitri off--Nigel gave Dmitri some rather tepid reviews, but unless he has a few hundred thousand viewers in his pay, couldn't get rid of Dmitri.

Another "reality" show---Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency on Oxygen has some hunky guy/models--it was pretty hot when she was "interviewing" the guys for a spot---lots of dropped drawers and underwear shots. Janice herself is pathetic, but ignore her and the female models, and there is a bit of entertainment )

I know that they claim that the loser is decided by the "voting public". I however, distrusting sceptic that I am, often wonder if that is truly the case. Nigel in his arogant best, said earlier in the show, that HE would stand for nothing that displeased him and that he would use his positon as "Executive Producer" to bounce anyone he pleases - or should I say, that displeases HIM".

 

No, I don't think he has a few hundred thousand viewers on his payroll but I also can't see the drooling females of America, not to mention the star-stuck fags like myself, voting to boot such eye candy.

 

The way I see it, Dmitri defied Nigel on the bare abs issue and Nigel in a hissy fit got rid of him.

You could be right---I didn't see the episode where Nigel made that claim. If true--I'd like to sack his ass. I miss Dmitri---wonderful eye candy and amazing dancer--at least from this non-dancer's perspective.

Reality is hardly reality, when it comes to television, sighhhhhh.
