Hey big spender, according to their website, meals are included.

Enjoy your visit.

Haha. Yeah, I’m reeeeeally glad I posted this thread. Without your posts I would have been exiled to my room after 6:30 and would have brought too much cash. Now I need to arrive before the 5:30 ferry or spend a fortune to charter a plane

Only hotel I’ve seen in years that charges per person.

The marginal cost. To them can’t be that high.

Hahahahaha... yes, there’s a lot about this experience that is feeling like a time warp to a bygone time

Yes, it's an old hotel. You will get to experience a very small, and very slow elevator. If you take the stairs, you may notice the treads are not level. One staircase we took had a very noticeable lean to the side. But, that was in 2001, let us know.

Be sure to catch the ballroom dancing.

Well @bashful, everything is still crooked. Of course, I’ve learned that the entire building was built in 93 days.

Some notes:

  1. I’m not used to the manure smell.
  2. The reason that cars were outlawed in the 1890’s was to protect the teamster jobs driving carriages; I’m not sure what good a car would do on an island this small...it’s clearly worked for the best.
  3. There was a wedding a few minutes ago on the porch beneath our window. At the close of the ceremony, they placed the theme to “Love and Marriage”
  4. The service is good, but not anything spectacular.
  5. The island is magnificent. I’ve probably walked a hundred miles
  6. Getting here was too hard
  7. Laura Ashley died...and never left the building...but it’s true to its name

Sounds as if it was still a good experience for you. Nice to know not much has changed (lol "still crooked"). Didn't think much would have changed. It remains one of the favorite vacations for reasons beyond just the destination.
