I am sure most of them have an expectation to be tipped for good service - such is the culture. #chedda

Have not asked them about it.

I will gladly add a reasonable tip for good service. Has my regular guy come to expect a tip? Sure. Just like I have come to expect A+ service!!

You don’t have to tip self employed owners, which massuers and escorts are. They are already making $150 or more an hour, which they don’t have to share with a spa or salon. Tipping them is just stupid and you might as well throw your money in the trash.

I always put the required pay 200 or 300 on a visible spot when he walks in the room, then in the corner of the same desk or dresser I place two 20 dollar bills that he will get if he goes beyond my expectations

They always get the idea and go the extra for the tip :)

That’s stupid.

Obviously if a masseur is working for a spa, a tip is totally expected and should be given (Unless the service was terrible) because the spa takes a large cut of the fee. But if the masseur is working out of their home, taking the full profit, which these days is way more than most people make an hour, usually cash, I don’t feel obligated to tip. It’s got to be completely mind blowing to give more than $160 for a massage in my opinion. If someone’s flat rate was around $100, then I’d likely throw in some extra.

This is correct. This tip happy society some people have established is ridiculous. What next? Tip doctors and internet millionaires?

Do you tip differently for a purely therapeutic vs sensual massage? What about varying degrees of sensuality? Do you tip more if you get to suck the guy’s cock as opposed to plain old mutual touching? What if it becomes full on sex? Does that warrant more tip? I typically give 20% tip regardless but I round it up to the nearest dollar.

Would you tip your lawyer? Or your doctor?

I never said “have to tip” I said that I gladly tip for good service. Its called exercising free will. You don’t have to do the same and your permission and approval’s not required.

Speaking for myself, I find the tone of your responses rather harsh and judgmental.

I might if I wanted them to pretend they thought I was hot.

Then you’re stupid because in the case of massuers and escorts, it’s already their job to act like you’re hot (and I don’t discount the difficulty of their job in that respect).

Well if you want to exercise your free will to be stupid then I guess anything goes. But the original poster posed the question whether there is an obligation to tip. The answer is “no” if the massuer or escort isn’t working for a spa.

As a therapist, I never expect a tip, so it's appreciated when I get one.

As a client, I usually tip even if the service wasn't great. I always feel like it's expected.

It is expected that men mate with women and act macho, do you do that too because it is expected?

Incorrect. Again. The OP asked if they have the expectation, not if it was an obligation. Those are two different things, which is why I addresses expectations in my post.

Their is neither an obligation not should there be any expectation unless dummies create one.

You really can’t help yourself...you have to add a little insult. Going back through this thread and counting the number of times you implied that a forum member was stupid, crazy or dumb... Not cool. Bye Felicia.

Some people have nothing better to do I guess. I bet he’s one of those people who go out to dinner with a group of friends and orders the most expensive item on the menu. Drink as much as he can then asks to split the bill evenly. :rolleyes:

You’re just taking it to a whole different level. Just like waitstaff, you’re not required to tip but you do in good faith. You’re just cheap

1) it’s not considered “cheap” not to tip a business owner who makes $150+ an hour which he shares with no one. Think about what you’re saying. There isn’t enough thinking in the lgbt community;

2) there is no expectation of a tip unless the massuer works for a salon. If there is, you’re not responsible for others’ expectstions;

3) massuers do the same things with everyone, give or take the level of hotness of the client. It’s not like the massuer will all of a sudden be a top next time because you tipped him, when he didn’t top you before; and

4) I don’t give a fuck what you think. I’d rather be cheap and smart then dumb and poor.

Money alone can’t make your face look pretty; only a good plastic surgeon can help.

Just for the sake of argument why should I tip a person who can't go out and start their own business in their home? In a salon they have the massage table furnished, fresh linens furnished, clients furnished, room furnished. A lot of money saved there. Perhaps the salon should charge more if the income isn't enough for the masseur. Not my responsibility!!
