For all the fans of Times Square, the Gaiety and Howard Johson's. The Howard Johnson's in Asbury Park has offically closed. On the boardwalk next to Convention Hall and the Paramount Theater since 1962. It's been barely surviving for years with limited hours and down to 2 flavors of ice cream.

 

Amazing that from a chain of 1200 it's now down to only 4.

 

Even the Gayafacation of Asbury and its "rebirth" couldn't keep it going.

 

Looks like the Green Peace won't have to worry about clam strips being an indangered species
