Print ad hotties from the past : Were they real?

As I looked through my junk mail, I remember several years ago the Big 5 Sporting Goods store had a photo of an incredibly hot looking man wearing the speedo swimsuit when it went on sale. Today, it's just a photo of the suit not being worn.

 

In some store ads advertising swimming pools for sale, there was this incredibly handsome muscular tanned stud playing catch in the pool with his family, and he appeared to be wearing tight red swim boxer briefs.

 

My absolute favorite photo, and it only printed once, was a now defunct clothing store with this massive muscle chest stud with gigantic dark brown nipples, wearing white cotton briefs.

 

I've wondered if there were highly talented artists creating these dreamy dudes, or if they were real.
