Oops. I forgot the "plus seven" part. But, now that I think about it, it works now.

 

I met my partner when I was 40. He was 20. (Hence the half age part.)

 

I'm now 54 and he's 34. (And that's half age plus seven.)

 

I always wondered if I'd meet "him" when I was in my 20's.

I kept wondering why I wasn't meeting "him" in my 30's.

Met him when I was 40.

And then I realized it took so long because I had to wait for him to be born, grow up, and become legal.

Reminds me somewhat of Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy. But they were 29 years apart.
