This week Tyler brought home Bhakti, a young very good looking Russian hockey player type, whom he supposedly met in a Key West bar. The female roomates are freaked out because Tyler's 'boyfriend' doesn't conform to any gay stereotype they are used to. The roomates spy on Tyler and Bhakti in the pool and shower. In fact, they seems as interested in Bhakti as Tyler is. Sadly, MTV blocks out the nudity and sex.

Anyone think that Bhakti is way out of Tyler's league, which raises some interesting questions about Bhakti's real profession. Great episode.

Episode 12.

It will be repeated often this week and next week.

I guess I'll have to give "Real World" Key West another try. I got turned off by the seeming (to me) over-emphasis on booze and getting drunk. I realise that among that age-group, drinking and binge-drinking is a major part of the scene, but it gets tiresome---it's bad enough to have to watch drunks in real life.

Bhakti is a Sanskrit word meaning "intense devotion", expressed by placing oneself at the mercy of the divine. Wonder where MTV will take THAT relationship!

PS: Bronson Pinchot's character was Balki in Perfect Strangers.

Tyler and Bhakti exchanged phone numbers, so he should be back again.

I agree that the show can get boring for middle aged viewers, with the constant phone calls to abusive boyfriends (from the female roomates) and the focus on the most annoying roomates, rather than the normal ones.

John, the hottest straight roomate, is fine, but he uses the word "dude" in every other sentence. That's normal for a guy his age, but cuts down on his sex appeal over time. I'm watching because of a planned trip to Key West & glad I am because of Bhakti.

>Strangers.

I always thought that he was called "Balky" as a moniker for someone from the Balkans.

I watched it just once, and he did seem kind of Balkanized. But he started out kind of Greek. You have a good ear!

“Plot Summary for "Perfect Strangers" (1986) Balki Bartokomous, a sheepherder from the small Mediterranean Greek-like island of Mypos, travels to the United States in search of his relatives . . .”

“The Myposian accent Pinchot performed in the series was originally based on a Greek accent, but later into the show is morphed into more of a Russian dialect.”

Sorry for hijacking the thread. As penance, I'll watch the next two episodes of Real World . . .
