>Any thoughts please? I called another gay guy at work this.

>He replied "And a damn good one too!) We shared a good laugh.

No it not an insult at all - take it as a compliment. In fact, one should even have the term engraved on one's business card in place of the usual education designations which are far too pretentious in most cases.

The dictionary says an insult is “a rude expression intended to offend or hurt”.

So your intent, rather than the word itself, seems to be the key.

I’ve always tried to say it with a great deal of affection, and only one guy ever took offense. Fortunately, he got stuck at a red light and was unable to fully express his feelings. :)

No insult to me. I resemble that remark.

As a kid I was terrified of being called a cocksucker. As an adult my reaction is damn right I'm a cocksucker and what's more I'm damn good at it and I enjoy, beyond words, every moment I'm sucking a cock.

Yeah, I am always telling my straight friends not to use good words for bad things. Like cocksucker, dick head, fuck face, penis breath, etc.

If I wanna insult someone, I just call them a rug muncher....

INsult is self imposed state of mind!

No one can throw insults, since they are merely saying words to get you to think that about yourself. What meaning you give those words is what you end up being. An insult is a feeling you make up and believe is a true feeling, which was transferred onto your being or mind.

Insults are right up there in feelings with guilt, anger, hate, fear, and even depression. There is no room for me to manufacture any of that kind of negativity in my being.

It is much better to support and nourish the feelings of Happiness, love, JOY, satisfaction, etc to have a far more enjoyable life from day to day. Have you noticed how many people seem to be offended and issulted most of the time in order to control other people?

So, you can choose how you want to feel, and let the uncomforable feelings just roll off the screen from any words spoken to you, that you then create an offense from. It's up to me to decide, if I want to be miserable in life or enjoy as many joyful moments as I can. And share the good times with as many people as I can, and avoid the bummers!

Have a nice Day!

"Cocksucker" would be an insult to me if it were prefaced by the word "lousy" (as if that would ever happen :p ...I mean, I suck at some things but sucking isn't one of 'em ). :9

I suppose the term "fuckin' cock sucker" would be the ultimate compliment as it shows that you are good at multi-tasking.

JT,

A couple of months ago, I was talking to a str8t bud and I called someone a "muffdiver" in the same context as cocksucker would ordinarily be used. He got it and thought it was pretty funny that for a gay man it could be used as an insult. (Of course the joke was on me when I ended up doing a little diving myself a few weeks later!)
