I was under the impression that it means bottom too but I contacted a guy that advertised that and he told me he is all top

As with any communication, just ask the guy what he's into, tell him what you're into and see if you can't rub two sticks together to make fire.
 
If his version of things are different than yours, no harm-no foul. At least you know beforehand.

When I first started I thought verse top meant the same thing because it made the most sense. But, after several contacts that isn’t the case at all.

Some guys are strike tops, who either want more clients, or just like pissing people off.
Some are tops only, but will bottom for you if you pay a lot more than their asking rate. (These guys also tend to have already high rates)
Some are tops when it comes to anal, verse when it comes to oral.
Some are what you’ve said, but sadly they are not as many as you think. Plus, because these guys rarely do bottom, I find they’re not the best at it.
Some are verse guys who know that there are more bottoms hiring then tops (sorry but I’m not swimming through 1-4 to find you)
Very rarely, a bottom who really needs some more business.

When we’re talking about bottom verse, I cannot go as far with my list as I never hired one who didn’t bottom, lol. But in my personal life, I’ve found most bottom verse guys either wanted their dicks sucked too, or were very into rimming too. It always tended to do more with oral than anal.

I tend to think the way you do.
I understand that some guys probably use it to cast a wider net to potential clients, in a deceptive sort of way if they won’t actually bottom, but I don’t think everyone uses it so cynically.

I can share experience with Carlos and Orlando. Carlos is a great guy and gives a great massage. Was more open the first time than my second.
