My first thought was the Forum is gone! Glad all is good for now. Let's hope the site remains active for many more years.
Thank you for all of you who are trying to keep it going. All many of us can do is make a donation.

Another major difference between AIDS and COVID-19 is that from the beginning, it was clear that only certain kinds of people who engaged in certain kinds of disreputable behaviors were affected by AIDS. It was easy for Reagan and his administration to avoid dealing aggressively with the disease, or even mentioning its existence, because those kinds of people and those behaviors weren't associated in the public mind with the people who supported him. COVID-19 doesn't discriminate on the basis of political ideology, religious identification, or sexual orientation: anyone can get it, by engaging in the most common activities of daily life. There wasn't much panic over AIDS among the general public once it was clear that most of them weren't at risk; they had to be persuaded into feeling sympathy for the initial victims. It wasn't until heterosexual women, men who didn't use drugs, and babies were affected that compassion for those with AIDS became generally respectable. Many people like to ignore that uncomfortable fact now, but I ran an AIDS Hotline as a volunteer from 1986 to 1989, and I know who was calling with concern and who wasn't.
Very true and sad about HIV and the right wing agenda. COVID-19 has brought about a lot of anti Asian and anti Asian American racism. True is wasn't until "innocent" people or famous people were affected and died from HIV that we go more awareness.

Not being a person of color can be very beneficial in those situations.
Sad but true!

He will be in San Francisco soon was thinking of hiring for massage. Would be interested in comments from any of you who have met him. You can PM if you prefer. Thanks!

I think this the same guy. Much discussion as to whether pics are his. I must say he does look hot.

I noticed Karl has limited his availability hours and raised his rates. Has anyone seen him lately? I wonder if he is phasing out of massage work?
-
All great suggestions. If I have had a good massage session I like to send an email/text a few hours later thanking them. I do this even with my go to masseur. It doesn't hurt if you hope to see them at a later date.

Nice thread to bring back memories. I used a masseur named Tony for a long time. A super nice Chinese guy with excellent massage skills. The session always turned very interactive. His English wasn’t great but there was not much need for talking. He had a day job in a travel agency so sessions were always at night. I assume he went back to China. He is my gold standard for masseurs.
Was this in San Francisco? If so I think I saw him several times. Very nice guy. Good massage and interactive.

Just curious: What kinds of souvenirs have you left as a tip--and what was the masseur's reaction?
Souvenir was in addition to tip. This is for a regular guy I see and appreciated it.

I have given tank top or t shirt. Something simple.

New to Rentmassuer looks familiar https://rentmasseur.com/AznBubbleBut searched for any comments could not find anything. Thinking of hiring him.

I remember him from San Francisco. He had a nice body, okay massage. I think some of the pics are a little dated. I want to say he went by Toro.

FYI, Karl moved to a bit better part of the Civic center. Right off of Van Ness now and feel a bit safer walking his new location.
Apartment is nicer too
He did mention he would be moving soon the last time I saw him. Glad it is in a better place.

Have recently exchanged texts with him. He seems like a nice guy but have not been able to see him.
Would also like to get some details if anyone has seen him.

Have met with Hugo really nice guy. PM for details.

This guy joined yesterday. Saw his listing for San Francisco/Bay Area (San Jose, CA) this morning now is in Indianapolis.
I am a very present, calm, confident, creative person part of his ad.

that's a good point. if they have a Rentmen profile too - then they're usually up for more if you ask in advance.
My thought on that is if you expect more then maybe you should pay the Rentmen price. I know we would prefer to pay less for more (myself included) but I think we need to be sure not to take advantage. Perhaps leaving a nice tip? Any thoughts providers.
