  1. I'm curious: do y'all send thank you notes to your doctors/dentists/lawyers/therapists after an appointment? Do y'all expect to receive them? I realize we don't all have the same understanding of the nature of client/escort relationships, but I tend to think of them as professional visits, so I never automatically send thank you notes or expect to receive them, unless I would like the relationship to develop into a different kind of friendship.

When I was tax accountant, I would send thank you emails if a client gave me their email address. All my clients would get a card in January again thanking them for coming in the prior year and telling them I was looking forward to seeing them again. I usually had a >90% retention rate. Must have been doing something right.

  2. I think thats exactly right. And about "acceptable-ness"

I've heard it said that our attitude about fat people is the last sanctioned bigotry in America.

If I made prejudicial quips based on skin color, there'd be outrage. If I opined negatively about someone with mental or physical challenges, I'd be labeled ignorant. We're admonished to be more understanding if we react to mega-ink or lotsa metal.

But if an escort related the tale of the client who was so fat, he needed to be rolled in flour to find the wet spot, we'd all laugh and acknowledge the feeling of disgust.

Fat people are routinely discriminated against, absolutely. However, I cannot tell you the amount of times I have been shamed or worse for being an atheist. In fact, it can be so bad, I sometimes go "into the closet" and pretend to be a practicing Jew (I am Jewish by birth) and deal with the rare anti-semitism if it occurs.

  3. There's an old hotel in Aptos CA, which is also a popular eating place and watering hole. For a couple of years, they had a pair of identical twin brothers that worked as servers. It was very confusing, in a fun sort of way, to go in there and never be sure which of the two you were dealing with. The Twins became minor celebrities of sorts.

I wonder if they ever pulled anything like the old Abbot & Costello sketch of them in a diner with the twin waitresses.(sketch starts around 3 min mark)

  4. I collect three things though I only actively buy two of them. The ones I actively seek and purchase are decks of playing cards (virtually every type from vintage to modern) and game worn hockey sweaters of current and former members of the NY Islanders. I also collect Playbills but only the ones from shows I've seen so I don't really consider that purchasing them.

I also have a large collection of Intellivision games and two consoles but they are from when I was a kid. I should start seeking out boxes and inserts to complete them.

  5.

Years ago my mother and I went out to dinner. At another table was a couple (m/f) with their son (10yo?). The couple wanted to order a bottle of wine but the waiter refused because there was a minor at the table.

That's weird and it never happened at any table when I was at as a kid. I was in LA celebrating a freind's 21st birthday and was 20 at the time. A bunch of us went to dinner and I was the only one under age. When they ordered a couple of bottles for the table, the only person who was carded was the person ordering the wine. I happily broke the law in public that night.

  6. I'll make eye contact but let the escort take the lead. If he acknowledges me in some way I'll greet him. I met an escort I'd hired at a mutual friend's party, he was with his boyfriend, and from his reaction, I just acted like this was the first time we'd met. I ran into a Gold Coast dancer in the locker room at the gym, he said hi but was a bit flustered; "My worlds are colliding" is what he said, I think (but with a smile). I saw him later at the gym with his daughter.

    Don't tell George Costanza.

  7. Some escorts (or their managers) deliberately set the hotel room's clock radio time ahead 10 to 15 minutes in order to give the client the impression the session met or exceeded the agreed upon session length.

If that's true, it would never work with me. I have an obsession with checking my watch/clock multiple times an hour (a habit I developed as kid) so I always know the approx. time. I don't think I'd glance at the clock when I walk into the room, but I am sure I would see it at some point and know i it's off.

  8. I think you all might have been anticipating TOO MUCH ?. Dont compare it to the original. We are in diff times now. And while the gay jokes may not be as daring or shocking anymore, I think that the visibility is important. And they do have awesome chemistry. I just hope they do not focus TOO MUCH on politics. while it might be funny for a hot minute, we are living the nightmare and dont need the constant reminders.

I have a feeling they did it just for the first episode to get it out the way knowing viewers would want to see their take on it especially since they did a scene during the election. I will be disappointed if politics is a running theme because there are enough other shows out there that cover this stuff.
