I don’t think I have ever had to ask about HE directly. Here is how I approach it: On first communication I ask about the massage type (erotic), specifically if he offers a full body massage. At this point the provider usually mentions HE (erotic is a big clue!) If not mentioned, if he just responds with ‘yes’ I give him a nudge by asking if he has any specific boundaries I should be aware of. If that doesn’t get us on the same page I try one last time by saying something like “here are the types of things I enjoy...lots of body contact, mutual touching” etc. At this point it is a go/no go decision... I suppose it is a cheap way of marketing - most of us now have 'all you can eat' texting plans, so there is no real cost involved. It may even be effective - if it wasn't, they wouldn't do it. I have a few 'regulars' that will reach out to me when it's been a while or if they come into town, but those are personalized, directed at me specifically and I am okay with it - not the big blast 'throw jello against the wall and see if it sticks' approach you mentioned. They should remove you from a mailing list if you request it, if not they can get into a fair amount of trouble (TCPA applies and although I am not a lawyer, I understand that it has teeth to it if they don't have your prior written express consent...) Most mobile phones now have the ability to block numbers - if they won't stop misbehaving, you can try to block the number.

Indeed, they are quite popular - I had to wait a few weeks to get them from the New York Public Library, but they were worth the wait! (Keep in mind, the last book in the series was published 10 years ago and they still have a wait list for a few weeks to this day!!)

I know a few masseurs that split their time between locations (eg based in NYC but spend a week every month in Miami). I dont consider them ‘traveling’ masseurs - only those that run from city to city are ‘traveling’ by my definition. I avoid those. In my early days I was adventurous enough to try a few but I can only recall one case where it worked out to my satisfaction. He disappeared soon after...

Don’t believe the old saying “you get what you pay for”... I’ve had great experiences with masseurs at a lower price point (and I’ve tipped generously) and have had horrible interactions with high priced faux masseurs. I do make allowances for circumstances - am I hosting/masseur traveling? etc...
