I posted about a similar situation a few months back at Hey Man where the guy in the middle of the massage asked if I was going to tip him really well! It totally turned me off too and have never gone back. I did not give a good tip and I told them why.

He is a young asian guy.

Yes, I just looked at their website, New Hero, and there is nothing regarding pricing, nor anything about if they offer scrub, table shower etc, unless I missed it, but feel like I looked it over well....?

Chris is not at 27 Spa any longer, nor is Ryan. Seems like a lot has changed there recently, as I was told Ben is not doing massage now , only managing.. I had a new Asian guy whose name I don’t recall because it was really not good, unmemorable

With all of these similar types of messages being shared, my previous ones as well, I am leaning more and more to thoughts others have shared that these guys have been "spoiled" by too high tipping. What a shame, because it seems many of us will not be customers any longer for many of these locations...

I have to say that I had a similar experience there recently. When I gave the same generous tip that I have given the past few times, it was" looked at" as if it was not enough anymore! No words were spoken, but the look said it all. I was a bit put off..... I stopped going to Hey Man because there was a guy who in the middle of my massage requested a tip amount, so I was not relaxed at all during the session... I have no problem tipping well, but I do have a big problem being asked for, or told about a tip before, during or even after my session if I myself have not asked for anything extra yet.

WOW! Thanks for the update so I know not to go anymore! All of that is ridiculous. I posted prior that they stopped giving the towels before they closed for the renovation. And now the check out routine adds to my dislike.

They started doing this even before they closed. A bit annoying as you had to go out of the steam, hot tub area through a door to the locker room to then ask for a towel, which I also recall was given somewhat begrudgingly. I hope this has changed?

I have had several soaks and scrubs there in the past with Jack and used to like it there until last winter. Jack left so the guy who I had, thin build, glasses, can't remember his name, said to me during massage if I give a big tip I can have HE, and how much will I give? I was totally turned off by that approach! I haven't gone back there since..

It looks like there are few new guys working at SMS now from threads I've see here. Curious who do most guys like now?
