Is it time to grease the pole?

Just started reading... The author was marveling at the to-do list of a young Leonardo. On page 6, ithe book claims that on Leonardo’s list: “Go every Saturday to the hot baths where you will see naked men.” Glad to know I have at least one thing in common with LDV.

The overlap of voters between the AMPAS and SAG, is the greatest, so it make sense. However, I heard with preferential voting, 3BOEM is at a disadvantage (it may have its voters putting it in first place, but not a lot would have it as their second or third). In other words, one loves it or hates it. I didn’t hate it - I could never hate a movie with Frances McDormand or Woody Harrelson.

I know I'm too old for this movie - I'll probably have to take my niece so it's not too embarrassing to watch.

It's been a good year. In my humble opinion, there are no dogs on this list. No "Crash!" Remember that dog of a movie that stole the Best Picture win from "Brokeback Mountain?" By the way, "Darkest Hour" made me cry. And yes, Gary Oldman will probably win for this movie.

@OCClient and @TruHart1 - I believe we found the other person responsible for the rest of this movie's gross receipts.

By this afternoon, I would have seen all nominated films, YAY... “Call Me by Your Name” “Darkest Hour” “Dunkirk” “Get Out” “Lady Bird” “Phantom Thread” “The Post” “The Shape of Water” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” I don't anticipate that "Darkest Hour," which is what I'll be watching in a couple of hours, is going to be my favorite. I think that the race is going to be between "The Shape of Water" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri." It's been a while since I gasped at the movies, and I gasped, quite a few times in the latter. Ultimately, it's a laudable effort, but one I find hard to care for. "The Shape of Water," on the other hand, was a magical movie. It was a technical feat and I bought every minute of it. And this is not the kind of movie I usually like. "Phantom Thread" was funny, in a campy way. I'm not convinced that it was meant to be funny, though. Still, I liked it. A lot. "The Post" should be getting move love, and after "Call Me By Your Name," it's my favorite of this list. Perhaps, people felt that the deck was too stacked? Spielberg, Streep, Hanks, and all of the other actors, screaming prestige. "Lady Bird" was nice. I tremendously enjoyed Laurie Metcalfe, and Saoirsie Ronan - boy, she will probably surpass La Streep in accumulated Oscar acting nominations. Only 23 and on her 3rd already? And she has yet to come to her potential too. Still, the movie is a little slight... "Get Out' was a genre-bending gem. I enjoyed it, but it does not have a chance. "Dunkirk" was supposed to be Nolan's big Oscar play for film and directing. It's the Hilary Clinton of this year's movies. Next time, perhaps. I wish "Call Me By Your Name" would win, but I'd be happy if James Ivory and Sufjan Stevens win in their respective categories. WILL WIN: The Shape of Water SHOULD WIN: The Post WHAT I WANT TO WIN: Call Me By Your Name

Courtney Act Wins “Celebrity Big Brother UK” You're a winner, baby! by Christopher Rudolph Courtney Act didn’t walk away with the crown on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but she was a winner on tonight’s season finale of Celebrity Big Brother UK. Courtney Act (whose real name is Shane Jenek) was a fan favorite this season, educating her fellow housemates on LGBT and trans issues, and even having a bromance with former Apprentice star Adam Brady, thought Courtney was “hot,” even though he is straight. The winner of #CBB 2018 is.... @courtneyact! Here's the moment @EmmaWillis broke the news (and the internet). #CBBFinal Courtney’s victory was extra sweet since the top prize was between her and Ann Widdecombe, a former Member of Parliament who made headlines for her homophobic remarks in the house. “It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you’re racist you’re a racist. If you’re homophobic, you’re homophobic,” Brady told Gay Times, when asked about Widdecombe. “I don’t think age can be used as an excuse. Prejudice is prejudice. It doesn’t matter what shape it comes in, or size, or age – it’s still prejudice.” Widdecombe also refused to address Jenek as Courtney when Jenek was in drag, even calling Courtney “a tart.” Courtney was shocked by her win tonight, adding that her victory was slightly ironic since the theme for this season of CBB was “Year of the Woman.” “I guess coming into the house is validation that it’s okay to be different” Courtney told CBB host Emma Willis. The former Drag Race contestant made the most memorable entrance of the housemates this season, when she had a wardrobe malfunction as she entered the house—but now she leaves a newly crowned winner.

‘Human Uber’ Lets You Replace Yourself With a Rube With an iPad Strapped to His Face By Brian Feldman More than a decade ago, the television show Arrested Development came up with the amazing and ridiculous idea of the surrogate — a helper equipped with an earpiece, a forehead camera, and a baseball cap labeled “SURROGATE” in all caps. The point of the surrogate (named Larry Middleman) was to have him function as a stand-in for a rich man trapped in prison. It was a very funny gag because you thought, This could never be real. Now, it’s real. At the MIT Tech Review’s EmTech (the “em” stands for “emerging”) conference in Asia this week, researchers showed off a Human Uber, in which someone straps a screen to their face and fills in for someone else. Jin Rekimoto, a Japanese AR/VR researcher affiliated with Sony, showed the tech off using some very funny photos. “Human Uber,” developed in Japan, provides a way to attend events remotely using another person’s body. “It’s surprisingly natural” says its inventor, Jin Rekimoto of Sony The tech, known as ChameleonMask, “uses a real human as a surrogate for another remote user. To do this, a surrogate user wears a mask-shaped display that shows a remote user’s live face, and a voice channel transmits a remote user’s voice.” It looks, to be sure, extremely natural and not unsettling. So, get ready for the next step for the gig economy. Hey, sorry I missed your birthday, but I’m sending an anonymous person wearing my face so I can Skype in, okay?

Unfortunately, we live in a time wherein some people think it’s funny to send a SWAT force to someone’s house as a prank. Sometimes I can hardly believe these times in which we live.

Nice sleuthing! But please, make that show a satire...
