That is disappointing to read about Ten Thousand Waves. I haven't been in over a decade. For SF, it's only Kabuki or Banya. But then again, I haven't been to either of those since before the pandemic and then moved from SF. I really enjoyed Banya. I am seeking recommendations for a nice spa in San Diego for a long afternoon or evening of R&R. I'm looking for offerings like Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe or Kabuki Baths or Banya in San Francisco. It doesn't have to be all male... in fact, I'd like avoid anything that is overtly sexual in the environment. Looking online I was led to sites like CondeNast traveler or Reddit, where terms like "girls' day" and "bridal party" came up in descriptions of places. Yikes!!! Also, I'd rather stay generally west of the 5 or more downtown. My impression is that the further to the northeast I go, the less I like the atmosphere here. I booked a session with Oliver. I agree with everything soberguy wrote in this post and his subsequent one. I will definitely see Oliver again when I'm back in SF and can host. The massage was good and the stretching was even better. He was engaged the entire time and was working to give me a great massage. He brought a head cradle, which worked well with the massage on the bed. He went way over time in our session but the time passed quickly. I don't have any direct physical experience with Gabriel but want to vouch for his honesty in a series of text exchanges that I had with him. I reached out to him to ask for availability and whether he did the massage on a table or a bed. He said bed, and was very transparent that he is not a certified masseur and generally why he does a massage on a bed. His communications were clear, to the point, and very pleasant and understanding when I declined to proceed with a session (I wanted a session on a table, and one that was predominantly therapeutic.) If I were in SF again and looking at that time for the type of session that Gabriel offers, I wouldn't hesitate to try him.
