  1. 45 records. I didn't think they were that old but pre-covid some people in my building would hang out sometimes on Friday at the bar next door. A few years ago we were there and they were playing the sone from the late 70's baker street and a neighbor a year older than me and I were talking about it and I said I had it on a 45. A neighbor who was sitting with us who was about 25ish asked what a 45 was LOL. I thought he was joking but he was serious and he didn't know that a single song in vinyl was called a 45 and was looking it up on his phone LOL. We were telling him about having either an adapter that you put a stack of 45s on or the little disk you put in the middle. I joked and said I felt old (I was probably 51 then) I feel old and he replied "dude that is because you are old" (jokingly). His wife who is the same age was there and thought he was just messing with us about now knowing what a 45 was but he seriously didnt.
  2. My hometown had both a Kresgee and Kmart for a while and remember eating at both lunch counters. Food was pretty good, remember they had great milkshakes. I remember the used to have balloons hanging above the counter and you could pick the color you want and break it and there was a coupon inside for something like a free pop or so much off a specific menu item.
  3. The woolworth by my office was still around in the early 90's. I think the lunch counter had closed by then but I remember they had a bargain basement at this store and the creeky stairs in the middle of the store. It was only two door down from the office I was working in and they did have a snack counter and remember they had the best popcorn and I would go there sometimes on my afternoon break and get a box of popcorn and an icee. The only other place that had icee's was Hill's (midwest department store) that I knew of.
  4. My hometown only had about 20 thousand people and one exchange until I was in college. People would just give out the last four of their phone number without the exchange to local people. Once Fax machines and direct dial to peoples work phones were becoming popular they added another exchange which was one number higher and people would say their phone was 5 or 6 (third number) followed by the last four. My parents were cheap for stuff like a phone and didn't get a touch tone phone until in the 90s when they didn't have a choice and had a party line until around 1980, the other people were never on it and then suddenly someone was on it all the time so they finally broke down and got a private line. The one thing I don't miss is paying for long distance calls. Some of my best friends lived on town over but it was long distance and was expensive to call 15 miles away. My aunt lived on the other side of the country and was in PST and we were in EST and I remember my dad would call her on weekdays since rates were cheapest after 11 p.m. and he didn't want her calling at 2 a.m. our time.
  5. Is there any way of masking your identity if paying with a card/mobile app. I don't want the providers knowing my full name. I met a guy in Chicago once who was visiting from england that wanted paid via paypal since he didn't want to mess around with exchanging US currency but hate that paypal will show your full name.
  6. I wish Costco would get the Kirkland brand or Kroger would get their brand of wipes back in stock . I've bought a couple different off brands at Target or Menards and they aren't that great. Home depot has had the 35 count of the actual clorox for a few weeks but the price is high and 35 don't last me that long.
  7. Or Gorilla Glue LOL
  8. I was telling a friend about it and when he asked what the Gun Oil was for I should have said "It is something gay bottoms use in their ass so the tops cock slides in easilly" LOL. I'm sure that would have gotten me thrown in jail LOL.
  9. Some of the CBP officers can be on a power trip and real pricks. Never had a secondary flying but have had a couple at the ambassador bridge (Tunnel isn't as bad for me). One time going into Windsor a few years ago I was going to the casino and didn't realize they were on strike and got a secondary and really got the third degree which is understandable. But they went through everything in my car. I ate lunch over there and got some Cadburry (they sell the english kind not the shitty US hershey kind) in Canada and got some stuff at the italian village. Coming back the officer asked the purpose and I told him and he chuckled and said I wasn't the only one that didn't know they were on strike and went right through but I was using GE in the Nexus lane and I've noticed customs just asks what you were in canada and lets you go through in that lane and I've never seen anyone at the booth for more than a minute or get pulled over for a secondary. One time years ago before I had GE I got a secondary on the US side from taking the Train to toronto. Officer was a real jerk because I didn't have the ticket even though I offered to show him the train receipt confirm and he said that wouldn't prove I was on the train and asked what all I did and when I said main reason was to see a show he wanted to see the stub and I told him it was in my bag in my trunk in the playbill and I'd be happy to retieve it or show him the email receipt and they did a secondary and went through everything in my car. Funny thing is I was in the waiting area where there were some kids and I had some Gun Oil lube and one of the officers comes in and asks me really loudly what the gun oil was for (it even said lube on it). Put me in an embarrasing situation and I didn't want to say it was lube in front of kids and ask the officer if I could tell him in private and he gave me an attitude but went off to the side and I just said it was sex lube and he didn't understand why I was making a big deal of telling him in private.
  10. The bigger airports in Canada you clear US customs on the Canada side. I've never flown out of Ottawa but when they used to do London/Detroit service on Northwest I know you would clear on the US side but Toronto and Montreal you clear on the Canada side.
  11. When the OP mention Buffalo I assumed he was flying out of the US and not Canada when I typed that. You do preclear in Toronto on both sides but some smaller airports it isn't the case. I' live near the windsor/detroit crossing and have found crossing on land a lot bigger pain than flying. I've had a few secondaries on land but neer flying into Toronto or Montreal. If someone is crossing a lot I recomend getting Nexus or GE. GE you can only use coming into the US from Canada and can't use the nexus lane going into Canada but has saved me a lot of time since I've gotten it.
  12. There are only a couple providers I would pay $500 an hour for (Blake Mitchell or Johnny Hands). I think Arad Winwin is a lot hotter than JJ and he charges $500 an hour and I refuse to pay that to him. I hope if he is charging that kind of fee he isn't a clock watcher. I'd be wanting the entire hour
  13. Also has me concerned since I do international travel a lot and have global entry. With the GE it's a breeze entering the US and I can use Nexus from Canada but has me concerned if they do a secondary or I get pulled aside in another country. I can delete any texts but can they read my emails? I also have some pretty confidential texts between friends and family members that aren't of a sexual or illegal nature.
  14. Makes sense seeing you clear US Customs in Canada instead of the US on canadian flights
  15. Love that movie. I don't know why they didn't use the Stevie Nicks song "edge of seventeen" in it since it was from that era. It is based partially on a true story and I saw it at a LGBT film festival in Detroit right after it was released and the writer did a Q&A This movie is on Netflix and I really enjoyed it because I graduated high school in 1984 and have lived in the area all my life.
  16. Sorry you had to go through that but why would customs even be involved in a domestic flight? I fly all the time and the only time I deal with Customs is when returning to the US from an international flight. I've had TSA be a jerk a few times even though I have precheck, a couple times it's beeped for a secondary but I'm on my way. I've also never had a boarding pass say if it's one way or RT. The officer sounds like a real jerk, he should have just asked to see the confirm that would have shown it was a RT ticket.
  17. Surprised "Last Ferry" hasn't been mentioned yet. The star is very nice looking. It's on Netflix, ok movie.
  18. That is a big mark up but I'm sure Goldbelly gets a nice commission and they ship the stuff overnight fed ex or ups so I'm sure a lot of it is shipping since they have to use gel packs or dry ice.
  19. I'm going to have to check them out next time I'm in NYC. This really has me craving Doughnut project in NYC now also LOL. The pot pies look amazing. Goldbelly isn't cheap but I was really craving Babka the first time I ordered with them and knew I wouldn't be flying soon and figured I was saving a lot of money from not flying and to treat myself. If you have an American Express card there is an offer on a lot of there cards on their page for $50 off a $100 purchase. You can use it to buy a gift card and use that for the pie. and it will cost you $50 if you decidenot to use the other $20. If you have a chase card with pay yourself back Goldbelly is working on the 50% discount category so the pie would only cost you a little over $50 in points.
  20. I don't understand why they aren't requiring nurses and medical professionals also get hazard pay. A nurse in a hospital or EMT is putting their lives in a lot more danger being around a covid patient
  21. I'm scared the same thing will happen if minimum wage does get increased to $15 an hour. I'm sure we'll see a lot more kiosks at fast food places and they'll be common like they are in Europe. We pay our college interns $18 an hour and they are thrilled to be making that much but if a McD's worker is making that I can see them asking for more money. And I'm sure like with Kroger's that have recently closed, if a merchant is on the fence about closing due to profit margins and their lease is up just closing the business.
  22. Thanks for the heads up on the pie company. May use them for Easter. My favorite so far is the double chocolate babka from Onek bakery. I like to put in my toaster oven at 300 for a few minutes to warm it up. If you are into the credit card point game there are a couple good deals out there. Some Am Ex cards in their sing up offers have $50 off a $100+ goldbelly purchase and it can be used up to three times so I bought three different $100 e-gift cards. Figure it saves 50% and if you have a chase card with pay yourself back Goldbelly works in their bonus categories through at least 4/30. It is expensive but I figure I'm saving a lot of money not travelling and it helps to keep these small businesses I like to patronize when I can travel in business.
  23. Found out about Goldbelly this week. Expensive but great way to get food from places like NYC now that I can't travel.
  24. Jaxton Wheeler. He's looking awful with that beard and has a few bad reviews.
  25. One I thought of that was AWFUL and we almost left at intermission was Nunsense 2. A friend of mine loved Dody Goodman and Dawn Wells and wanted to see it since they were starting in it in Detroit. I have been to some bad shows but wanted to leave at intermission and dozed off in the second act. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Naked Boys Singing on here. Nice eye candy but no real story line and no good songs except the opening song.
