Well given that (at least 30 years ago) a lot of french folk made their own mayonnaise (which I witnessed with my own eyes while spending an academic year there), it really isn't a big deal, but I still say that putting it on pears would diminish the experience. A nice blood-orange sauce or glaze, however ...

Well now ...
(1) They are a complete protein;
(2) they digest well;
(3) I don't know if they're traif or not (as long as their dead first);
(4) There's a lot of them.

(For anyone looking for a "blast from the past" from their childhood, you can now buy SPAM as individual slices so you're not stuck with the entire can. I discovered it with amusement but did not indulge.)

You can complete that picture by putting mayonnaise on fried SPAM, oddly enough.

I wonder if these are still available (not this brand, this sort of canned ham). It's a while since I've seen one, but they were better than some of the sliced ham you can buy at the deli counter, and seemed to be a lump of ham rather than reconstituted ham meat. Useful for camping.
