  1. Lower to the ground to be more fuel efficient. That sounds serious...
  2. You know what, guys? I think you’re right. Let’s all short BA and watch the stock crash together. We’ll make millions! To our friends at the SEC: I’m just entertaining these xxxx While I may or may not buy new or additional BA shares, I am in no way attempting to actually influence the market for this security.
  3. The CFM LEAP-1B is the only engine offered for the 737 MAX series. But the LEAP engine is also used by Airbus on the A320neo. So any "engine" issue is not limited to Boeing. Should we not have the same concerns about Embraer or Airbus aircraft certified by EASA?
  4. It has no meaning at all in relation to the MCAS system - the subject of discussion for the last several dozen posts.
  5. Unless you've seen more than I have about this incident, you have no clue as to what actually happened. The press reports do not contain any details, nor do the ATC recordings I've heard. We'll know more if/when there's an NTSB report (which is unlikely because while engine shut-downs in flight are not frequent, they certainly do occur). Could have been anything from a bird ingestion to temperature warning - or just about anything else. Of course, the LEAP engine (made by CFM, not Boeing) also powers the Airbus A320neo, so any issue attributable to the engine is certainly not limited to the 737.
  6. My point was only that airplanes of all types make diversions every day for one reason or another. That a MAX8 did so yesterday was in no way related to the MCAS issue and is of no significance at all.
  7. How was the engine performance issue related to MCAS?
  8. All pilots are trained (or at least I was) to deactivate runaway trim systems. Appears the system design was not ideal, but these accidents should not have happened.
  9. My crystal ball is worthless, so that may not be a bad strategy. But I'm getting closer to adding.
  10. And here we are ten years later. The Dreamliner is now profitable for Boeing and Airbus has announced the end of the A380 program. Not saying I would have predicted these outcomes, but it is interesting.
  11. That's the theory. Worked with BA in July 2013 when they had a Dreamliner fire.
  12. Stock is up 0.7% at present. Appears that investors have baked this in to the price already.
  13. And a bit more complicated with the MAX-8 and -9...the issue here is that ***apparently*** the airplane thinks it's stalled so pushes the nose down to recover and pilots were not able to (or did not) disengage that [MCAS] system and continue flight. Grounding probably safest strategy until more is known and a software update can be pushed out.
  14. Yet another reason to prescribe antibiotics only when necessary! FWIW, this was not a "study." It was a single case report with no evidence to support causation. I'd think likely, but not definitive...
  15. No, crash is not inevitable. Stall recovery is taught to all pilots and (in theory at least) becomes reflex. It's not complicated or difficult to do...you must only recognize the impending or actual stall, not panic, and correct the airplane angle of attack. That said...to stall a commercial airliner, you have to screw up flying it in the first place.
  16. Coincidence entirely...you'll see my presence here preceded the NG and certainly the MAX-8. Definitely too soon to ascribe cause for either crash. Suspicion about MCAS is (IMHO reasonably) based on the Lion Air crash. Witness statements in air disasters are notoriously inaccurate . My post above was in reference only to the MCAS (stall prevention system) if that is found or suspected to be the culprit. Boeing announced a change in that software today. I still would like to see FAA ground the MAX-8 fleet but only so I could buy Boeing or Spirit at some discount. This will be a short-lived issue regardless.
  17. Will be a simple software fix, if nothing else to simply disable that system while sorting out issues. Wish I'd caught BA when stock was down at open yesterday. Still hopeful that the FAA will down them in US and present another buying opportunity.
  18. I've had three or four outcall massages with Jake, always on a table. Just ask him and he will bring. Among the best massages I've ever had FYI. He's strong enough to do great deep tissue work.
  19. +1. My go-to in Chicago as well.
  20. Yes. Honored to have served our amazing nation and to have done so alongside heroes.
  21. +1 Jake is great masseur if you like very deep tissue work. Ad needs new photos, this is one of those "they don't do him justice" cases. And seems like a very nice guy too.

    New iPhones

Upgraded from 7 plus to XS Max only because I was phone-shamed by a friend with an X a couple of weeks ago. Peer pressure... Love it! Screen is great. I was skeptical about the facial recognition (what's wrong with finger print???) but love it now. Jump out of shower, wet finger didn't work but wet hair not a problem with new phone.
  23. +1 Never had a shower with Jake, but always a fantastic massage.
  24. Natural, free-range, organic and gluten-free.
