  1. You don't get to pick an MT, but if there's someone you want to try out because they were recommended, you can call or text the helpline and tell them that someone recommended ____ to you and you want to try them out. They'll put that person in your preferred list, which means that they get the request first & can accept or refuse it before it goes out to the masses.

That’s exactly right. You also don’t have to accept if you don’t end up getting who you want. Or call back and try someone else...

  2. There is no need to disclose or hint as to who the masseur may be. It's purely hearsay, as it is hard to pinpoint exactly where an infection may come from unless you've only had one partner, as some STDs can stay symptomless for a long time and may never show outward symptoms. It can destroy their business and/or reputation for no reason. STDs are unfortunately a fact of life and you can be a carrier with no symptoms. Unless you are paying them to be celibate aside from your session, there is no room to judge. And there is no shame in having one. We wouldn't go on the internet and warn people about someone who has a cold, and that can be much more debilitating than a symptomless STD. We're all adults here.

That being said, I would just say I tested positive for something and leave it at that. I had a masseur years ago text me to say he had an STD. I thought he was awesome for doing that and I was able to get tested myself. I also didn't avoid going to him in the future. You get tested and/or treated and go on.

I agree- that’s exactly why I have declined to give out his name even in PM. It is strictly hearsay and I wanted to start a conversation about what to do if/when an std is contracted.

From this discussion: I actually had someone contact me about not being able to afford treatment for an STD they currently have. I’m trying to help them get some free services.
