As for me, the answer is yes, it can be addicting and get out of control emotionally and financially. But I will say this: in my nearly ten years of getting massages I have met some of nicest most interesting guys and I would not trade it for anything. I’m friends with some now and see others occasionally. Yes there are bad, if not hilariously awful experiences, but those are few and far between. If one is careful and learns how to read ads so as to choose the good ones and avoid the bad, it can be a rewarding (sometimes expensive) way to interact with people and have genuinely good experiences.
 
Regardless of motives on either side, we are all still people looking for connection. If we treat others respectfully then the chances of the encounter being mutually rewarding are much higher. I’ve experienced this several times. Massage can turn into a genuine connection.
 
What I’ve also found is that I like giving massages as much as receiving them now. A good masseur can teach you a lot about how to receive the massage as well as how to give a good one. I have had more than one masseur tell me they are going to give me the massage they would like to have.
 
I think at the end of the day it all depends on what you are in it for and what you want to get out of it short term and long term. I see massage as a language of touch, a way to converse. Receiving touch is like listening to someone. Some masseurs have a lot to say I want to hear, others not so much!

Nope. Won't make that mistake again. I feel a little bad because I follow this forum closely but rarely chime in. And now I do so out of disappointment. Still, what I experienced with Charlie wasn't Thai massage. I've had Thai massages. This was inexperienced, poor technique, massage by rote. I'm a regular at TS and had sessions with everyone, many times. All in all the team are quite good. Charlie is the odd one out. First time I've regretted a massage in a very long time.

Ktown is open. Only one steam room works. They made the three hot tubs into one. They have a huge “deck” where the others were. They flipped the door to the steam room around. I think they made a big mistake. They raised the price to $50 instead of $40. Still has potential. I think the west side YMCA is good. Sauna. Steam room. Open shower. You get 3 free visits a year. Then it’s $25 for a day pass

His ad is basically Craigslist, except it wasn't free. Missed opportunity to not say something enticing about yourself. It could be fun to find out what exactly he does for $140. I've enjoyed both strictly therapeutic and sensual/erotic massages. I typically just go with the flow and respond to the masseur's cues. I avoid asking about how erotic a massage will be, particularly if it's not in the ad (e.g., MF), because I feel awkward and creepy if the masseur denies engaging in such practices. I also don't want him to feel obligated to do things he doesn't want to do. I can do without a nude guy who doesn't want to be touched giving me a said HJ. I'd rather him just keep his clothes on and provide a solid therapeutic massage. I've also found that sometimes ads, discussions, and the actual massage don't always align. If the masseur indicates that he practices sensual/erotic massage (e g., rentmasseur), in my opinion, it's fair game to respectfully ask for further details, however. All that said, the majority of masseurs I've hired, regardless of ad site, have performed some form of sensual/erotic massage.

I would add a third category... “Well Informed”. Thanks to so many of you here in SpaLand, there are numerous masseurs that I’ve gone to with few upfront words, and under the guise of spontaneity but knew damn well what I getting!!
