  1. Years ago something really crucial happened at home while I was at Jasper National Park. I was grateful for the wifi to Skype on, and yet couldn't stop reminding myself that in the past I would have just dealt with it upon returning home from one of the most beautiful North American parks. I honestly texted from one of these chairs (although I remember it as a blue chair). I should be ashamed and I am.
  2. I'm guessing her husband is surprised she's still alive.
  3. If you care about GV you must read Palimpsest. His later memoir, not nearly as good, is also fucking great if that makes any sense. God damn I wanted to fuck that man. His best and most important fiction is Burr. And if you really really like GV, buy "United States" it's about 1100 pages of the best essay writing you'll ever find on subjects you are interested in and others in which you become interested. I return to it nearly monthly. Buy the hardcover, the paperback is unwieldy: http://www.amazon.com/United-States-Gore-Vidal/dp/0767908066
  4. I have 20 pages left, that I'm hesitant to finish because I like it, of What Belongs To You. The author's understanding of prostitution is a bit predictable, but the writing is fantastic. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/20/b...ry-of-desire-and-outcomes.html?ref=books&_r=0
  5. I really appreciate that. And, as it turns out, this morning the NYT Arts section delivered my next book. ITS ABOUT A RELATIONSHIP WITH A GAY HUSTLER. ok, that should get everyone's attention. "What Belongs To You" Sounds like a really good book. Review: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/20/books/review-what-belongs-to-you-a-story-of-desire-and-outcomes.html?ref=books&_r=0 Book: http://images.macmillan.com/folio-assets/macmillan_us_frontbookcovers_186W/9780374288228.jpg Author: Garth Greenwall. http://sofiaecho.com/shimg/zx620y348_1107713.jpg Ironically, he wrote what is considered one of the most baffling reviews of A Little Life: http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2015/05/a-little-life-definitive-gay-novel/394436/
  6. Thank you. I'm beginning to think the "friendship", the possibility that this is a male version of mary mcarthy's "The Group" is a faint, and that it's actually a book of suffering.
  7. I'm 100 pages in and I think I get it, suffering. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stop reading. Did anyone read this? What do you think? http://www.amazon.com/A-Little-Life-Novel/dp/0385539258 http://www.newyorker.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Michaud-The-Subversive-Brilliance-of-A-Little-Life-320.jpg
  8. I pay SO much for cable, I'd love to cut it. But I rely on it too much and the truth is APPLE TV etc just aren't as convenient yet.
  9. Been there since a teenager. Initially, hated it, always adjusting them. But grew up, bought tight expensive underwear, and more importantly realized they feel REALL good slapping against ass when I fuck.
  10. Always loved his, “I don't drink water. Fish fuck in it.”
  11. This one is right on time! http://files.explosm.net/comics/Kris/excuse.gif
  12. O my god, thank you for this. Cyanide & Happiness is my new favorite.
  13. Hey, I did that photo first! http://www.rodhagen.com/105574.D18ADCE2.jpg
  14. If you enjoy bread crumbs I can not recommend Chris Ware highly enough. You will tire out from His New Yorker covers before you even open the mag. Try this one: http://www.amazon.com/Jimmy-Corrigan-Smartest-Pantheon-Graphic/dp/0375714545 Building stories is his masterpiece: http://www.amazon.com/Building-Stories-Pantheon-Graphic-Novels/dp/0375424334/ref=la_B001JOJLJ2_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1448630280&sr=1-1
  15. Ha Ha. Dildo Baggins.
  16. You don't spend time in Phoenix, you lose time in Phoenix. That's fantastic.
  17. yes, but don't forget to sterilize first.
  18. that's great! like I said, things that are generally true have exceptions. that's why it's "generally".
  19. Actually, Gen Xers weren't called Entitled and Incurious (because, unlike Millenials our parents didn't tend to fund us (beyond college at least) like we fund Millenials deep into adulthood, and unlike Millenials and Gen Zers we certainly weren't incurious (if you disagree with that category for Gen Z you should meet my sibling's kids and their friends)). Most often, and correctly, we Gen Xers were accused of being "slackers" and "cynical to the point of apathetic". Both were true which is why, while the internet burst into the scene under our watch, people consider the internet the property of the Millenials; we were too jaded to really do shit with it, other than maybe Yahoo and Kozmo.com. Yippee!
  20. I really don't have patience for Millenials. I wish I did. And Generation Z? Forget about it--Entitled an incurious beyond reason (yes there are (rare) exceptions, there are always exceptions to something that is generally true; that's what "generally true" means)).
  21. Wasn't this movie, like the exact same story, out in the late 90s?
  22. God I loved this cylindrical showers. They still have them at the WeHo pool. The ceiling is chainlink; amazing it when it rains.
  23. WmClarke, I haven't seen the last ep yet, so my curiosity is peaked!
  24. O mi god that was cute and o mi god i feel old. "Do I have to pay for it?"
  25. You swim like a fish in speedos. They are as necessary a tool for efficient swimming as pedals are for biking. Wear them at any age.
