Here in LA, the prices are mixed, just like NYC apparently. I've spent the magic $1K before and it's really never been worth it, but I've taken in stride that my curiosity was satisfied. After a 7 year hiatus, I was in Vegas in October for two consecutive weekends. The first weekend, Venetian; the second, Bellagio (for a wedding). On the whole, for an elevated experience, my nod goes to the Venetian. Bellagio has nice (but VERY crowded) public spaces, but the rooms, while still good looking, are beginning to age - for example, the bride and groom's room literally had a sewage backup in their shower during their stay - which the management did nothing about regarding concessions or moving them - and I also had a strong septic odor near my room on the 25th floor. I think it's inevitable with aged, older, larger properties.
