Am I The Only Who Is Surprised: Zsa Zsa Gabor is Still Alive?
Kenny replied to + WilliamM's topic in The Lounge
Eva was the beard of Merv Griffin, whose life deep in the closet resulted in so many awful things. http://www.signorile.com/2007/08/merv-griffins-dangerous-closet.html -
Am I The Only Who Is Surprised: Zsa Zsa Gabor is Still Alive?

That's right. Francesca once said her mother told her she was responsible for ruining her figure during pregnancy. The hubby gets whatever is left, as far as I know, but it's mostly the house. -

Age 67, actually. I knew Francesca a little bit, and thanks to her psycho family she was among the most damaged people I've ever met. Tragic. -

Queen of Outer Space! (I'm told she doesn't look a day over 95.) -
In the '70s, the galleries for Greek vases at the Met in NYC were notorious cruising spots.

“They have a canny ability to mirror what the victim seems to need and to create a sense of intimacy very quickly,” said Debbie Deem, a victim specialist at the F.B.I.’s Los Angeles bureau. “They are able to manipulate the victim into believing they have found their one true soul mate.” That observation certainly seems to apply to the risks of "compensated dating." (Wasn't that a storyline in "How to Marry a Millionaire"?)

Today, Paul Krugman blasted the Wall Street Journal as "a paper that sometimes pretends to be a cut above Erick Erickson," the loon who runs Red State. Seems about right. http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/01/12/bully-for-neurotoxins/?module=BlogPost-Title&version=Blog%20Main&contentCollection=Opinion&action=Click&pgtype=Blogs®ion=Body

Everything you need to know about those esteemed writers who hand out the Golden Globes ... including the Russian body builder: http://www.vox.com/2016/1/10/10741076/golden-globes-2016-hfpa-explained

Actually, I read it critically, rather than getting on my knees and swallowing the conservative dribble. Take Laura Meckler’s infamous recent article on socialist Bernie Sanders. It was provocatively titled “Price Tag of Bernie Sanders’s Proposals: $18 Trillion.” She based her story on research by economist Gerald Friedman, at UMass. And she omitted his study's very different conclusions. Professor Friedman saw the piece, was rebuffed by the paper in his efforts to get a correction and responded in the Huffington Post with “An Open Letter to the Wall Street Journal on Its Bernie Sanders Hit Piece," demolishing her story. Grab your lorgnette and look it up. Isn't straight-down-middle journalism a wonderful thing? Especially at Rupert's WSJ.

I don't read it? True. I just look at it. Reading it is too painful.

“For any of you who don’t know, the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without all that esteem. The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton. A bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker, and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing’s been proved.” -- Ricky Gervais
-
The editorial page is slightly right of center only if you think the center is over on the right (which is a Miniverian thing to do). As for straight-down-the-middle reporting in Rupertville: Hahahahahaha!
-
Whereas the WSJ cultural coverage is written while gazing through a lorgnette.
-
Yes, you can blame the silly Hollywood foreign press, which looked at the roster of heavyweight producers and said, "Cool! Comedy/musical it is!" Nobody held a gun to their head. They're just silly.
-
The real reason they did that: The Globes are a star-f*cking joke. Always have been, always will be. The show is good now because the hosts know that. Go, Ricky Gervais!
-
And certainly worth a Best Comedy/Musical nod from the august Golden Globes.
-
"That's what I have the WSJ and the NYTimes for." Yes, thank goodness Rupert Murdoch came along to save the WSJ and give it a rightward tilt. Damn librul media!

Love is not a feeling. It's a behaviour, a way of being. Love is something you do. -
