  1. Published by DPA Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (L) meets with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit. Mick Tsikas/AAP/dpa Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba praised South-East Asian leaders on Saturday for delivering a message of “political support” to Kiev, and said Russia was playing “hunger games” with the world over a Black Sea grain deal. Speaking to reporters at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Phnom Penh, Kuleba described atrocities committed by the Russian armed forces and criticized Russia’s approach to the grain deal, which was brokered by the UN in July and is set to expire on November 19. “I call on all ASEAN members to take every method possible to stop Russia from playing hunger games with the world,” Kuleba said. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is among those attending the ASEAN summit, yet Kuleba said Lavrov had not requested a meeting with him. “There is not a single indicator that Russia is sincerely seeking negotiations,” Kuleba said. Kuleba also addressed the largely symbolic peace treaty Ukraine signed with South-East Asian nations on Thursday. “We are glad that it is during Cambodian chairmanship that the signing became reality and consensus was secured,” Kuleba said. “We take it as a message of political support by ASEAN countries to Ukraine.” The Treaty on Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia commits signatories to “mutual respect for the independence, sovereignty, equality, territorial integrity and national identity of all nations.” Kuleba, whose visit marks the first time Ukraine has attended the annual ASEAN summit, said: “We will explore and utilize all opportunities for building a deeper relationship with ASEAN countries.” ASEAN is a union of 10 South-East Asian countries which promotes diplomatic cooperation on economic, political and security issues. The union has an estimated total population of about 668 million. 3. Published by AFP Mehran Karimi Nasseri, pictured at Charles de Gaulle airport in 2004 Bobigny (France) (AFP) – An Iranian who got stuck for 18 years in a Paris airport, inspiring a Steven Spielberg movie starring Tom Hanks died on Saturday at the terminal, an airport official said. Mehran Karimi Nasseri died of natural causes just before midday on Saturday in terminal 2F at Charles de Gaulle airport outside the French capital, the official told AFP. Caught originally in an immigration trap — unable to enter France and with nowhere to go — he became dependent on his unusual place of abode and increasingly a national and international cause celebre. He called himself “Sir Alfred”, and a small section of airport parquet and plastic bench became his domain. Karimi Nasseri’s peculiar story came to the attention of Hollywood director Spielberg, inspiring 2004 film “The Terminal,” which starred Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Hanks played a man who becomes trapped at New York’s JFK airport when his home country collapses into revolution. After spending most of the money he received for the film, Karimi Nasseri returned to the airport a few weeks ago, the official said. Several thousand euros (dollars) were found on him. Born in 1945 in Masjed Soleiman, in the Iranian province of Khuzestan, Karimi Nasseri, took up residence in the airport in November 1988 after flying from Iran to London, Berlin and Amsterdam in an effort to locate his mother. He had been expelled from every other country he landed in because he was unable to produce the correct paperwork. At Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport an informal support network grew up around him, providing food and medical help along with books and a radio. In 1999 he was granted refugee status and the right to remain in France. “I’m not quite sure what I want to do, stay at Roissy or leave,” he said after being handed the right to live in France. “I have papers, I can stay here, I think I should carefully study all the options before making a decision.” He didn’t leave then. “He no longer wants to leave the airport,” his lawyer Christian Bourguet said at the time. “He’s scared of going.” View the full article
  4. Published by BANG Showbiz English Brooke Shields regrets telling the world she was a virgin. The 57-year-old model revealed in a 1985 book when she was 20 that she had not yet had sexual intercourse and became the “most famous virgin in the world” but wished she hadn’t said anything because the comment “never left her alone.” She said: “In it, there was one part of a chapter where I discuss—not abstinence per se—but owning your choice. I mean, I think it was, in hindsight, a bit of a mistake for me to be so open about my virginity because it never left me alone. I would get a lot of fan mail from kids saying, “Oh, my boyfriend’s pressuring me, and I don’t want to have sex. What do I do?’ My narrative was, ‘You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.” However, the ‘Blue Lagoon’ actress- who has daughters Rowan, 19, and Grier, 16, with husband Chris Henchy and was previously married to tennis player Andre Agassi – went on to explain that the media attention she received on the back of the comment gave her an air of “resilience” which set her up for a life in such a “difficult” industry. Speaking on her ‘Now What? with Brooke Shields’ podcast, she added: “I became the most famous virgin in the world. To be in the line of fire at such a young age in that way, I gained a resilience, and it set me up to be ready for anything in this industry, which can be difficult!” View the full article
  5. Published by Reuters BORODYANKA, Ukraine (Reuters) – Renowned graffiti artist Banksy unveiled a work in the Ukrainian town of Borodyanka, which had been occupied by Russia until April and heavily damaged by fighting in the early days of Moscow’s invasion of its neighbour. Banksy posted a photo of the mural – a girl gymnast performing a handstand on a small pile of concrete rubble – on Instagram late on Friday. The work was painted onto the wall of a building destroyed by shelling. At least one other piece of new graffiti in Banksy’s signature style, although not posted by the mercurial artist on social media, was spotted in Borodyanka, portraying a man being flipped in judo by a much smaller child. The symbolism of that piece was unmistakeable: an allusion to the biblical story of David and Goliath, the unlikely triumph of the underdog, as well as a nod to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s much-publicised love of the Japanese martial art. Several curious onlookers came to see the artwork, some of whom had made the 60 km drive from Ukraine’s capital city, Kyiv. “This is such a historic moment for our country, that people like Banksy and other famous figures are coming here and showing the world what Russia has done to us,” said one of the visiting Kyivans, 31-year-old Alina Mazur. 6. Published by BANG Showbiz English Jack Harlow finds confidence “sexy.” The 24-year-old rapper – who is currently thought to be single but was previously linked to fellow rapper Saweetie and reportedly dated TikTok star Addison Rae – explained that “intelligence” and being sure of oneself are two of the attributes he finds most attractive in a woman. He said: “Sexy is just a magnetic pull. Awareness is sexy. I find confidence and intelligence most sexy in a woman.” Meanwhile, the ‘Whats Poppin’ hitmaker recently visited his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky and celebrated his return by taking his childhood friends out for dinner before explaining that he is becoming more aware of what makes him truly “happy” in life. He told PEOPLE: “I won’t cut back on spending hours and hours with my childhood friends in my Kentucky home or taking those same friends out to eat. Last week I was home and we went to a new restaurant we’ve never been to every night. Hard to say why it makes me happy. I like sharing my unique access and privilege with them — it’s more fun to experience this life together than by myself. “It’s rare I get to experience [an early morning]. I stay up late and sleep in a lot. But I love the peace of the morning and the feeling of having a whole day in front of me. Being awake before other people is exciting to me. I feel like I am under fewer and fewer illusions about what makes me happy. I really know what I want and I’m as disciplined as ever.” View the full article
  7. Published by BANG Showbiz English Adele will reportedly be using technology worth £400,000 to protect her voice during her Las Vegas residency. The 34-year-old superstar – who postponed her ‘Weekends with Adele’ at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in January just 24 hours before the opening night and claimed COVID-19 had rendered her show impossible to put on – is set to finally take to this stage this Friday (18.11.22) for a concert series lasting three months, with the Sin City venue having installed a “complex” system which will guarantee her the “best possible air” while she sings. A source told The Mirror: “They’ve had complex systems installed before, but this one really is on another level. The system works by combining dehumidifiers, purification units, water molecule dispersal and cooling fans in the preparation room and then guiding that air around the stage when she performs. Adele is getting the best possible air to protect her voice.” The news comes just hours after it was claimed that the GRAMMY Award-winning songstress – who had to undergo surgery on her vocal cords in 2011 after suffering a hemorrhage on them – is “more than ready” to take to the stage and has been rehearsing for “more than 12 hours” per day. A source said: “Adele cannot wait for her residency to kick off, she’s more than ready. She’s put her heart and soul into preparing, she’s been rehearsing 12 hours a day and every little thing is in place and perfected. At this point it’s just a feeling of wanting it to hurry up and be opening night because now that everything’s ready the waiting is tough, it’s like the countdown to Christmas morning or something. Opening night is going to be an epic celebration, she’s going to have all her loved ones there!” View the full article
  8. Published by Reuters By Jonathan Landay KLAPAYA, Ukraine (Reuters) – Villagers holding flowers waited on the road to the southern city of Kherson to greet and kiss Ukrainian soldiers on Saturday as they poured in to secure control of the right bank of the Dnipro River after a stunning Russian retreat. Volleys of incoming and outgoing artillery fire continued to blast around Kherson’s international airport and the police said they were setting up checkpoints in and around the city and sweeping for mines left behind by the Russians. The mayor said the humanitarian situation was “severe” because of a lack of water, medicine and bread in the city where residents celebrated their liberation in what President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called a “historic day” on Friday. In the hamlet of Klapaya, about 10 km from Kherson’s center, Nataliya Porkhunuk, 66, and Valentyna Buhailova, 61, stood on the verge of a rutted track holding bunches of freshly-picked flowers, smiling, and waving at passing vehicles carrying Ukrainian troops. “We’ve become 20 years younger in the last two days,” Buhailova said, just before a Ukrainian soldier jumped out of a small truck and hugged the pair. Outside the village of Chornobayivka, close to Kherson, a Reuters reporter saw incoming Russian fire that looked like a cluster munitions strike at the nearby airport. A volley of outgoing fire followed from the Ukrainian side shortly after. Reuters reporters were turned back by soldiers near Kherson’s outskirts and told it was too dangerous to go further. One officer was wounded while demining one of Kherson’s administrative buildings, the police said. “The city has a critical shortage, mainly of water,” Mayor Roman Holovnia told television. “There is currently not enough medicine, not enough bread because it can’t be baked: there is no electricity.” THE ROAD TO KHERSON The road to Kherson from Mykolaiv was lined by fields containing miles of abandoned Russian trenches. A destroyed T72 tank lay with its turret tossed upside down. The abandoned trenches were littered with refuse, blankets and camouflage netting. An irrigation ditch was filled with discarded Russian gear and several anti-tank mines were visible on the side of road. In the hamlet of Klapaya, Porkhunuk recounted that for most of the past nine months, the village was occupied by pro-Moscow Ukrainian troops from the Russia-occupied region of Donetsk “who said they would not hurt us, and we should stay in our houses”. But for two weeks, Russian soldiers took over Klapaya and told villagers they were there to search for “Nazis, and Banderites, and American biolabs,” she said, adding she had replied: “If you want to look for them, look elsewhere and go home.” Russians troops also warned that, “If we find that you are hiding any Ukrainian soldiers, we will level your home and the village,” she continued. She said the invaders also looted homes whose residents had fled. Moscow describes its actions in Ukraine as a “special military operation”. It has made claims about dangerous far-right groups in Ukraine and unproven allegations Ukraine hosted U.S.-run bioweapons facilities. Kyiv and its allies say Russia’s invasion, which has killed tens of thousands and uprooted millions, was unprovoked and illegal. In the nearby village of Kiselivka, a gaggle of teenagers stood on a dust-strewn corner with a sign made out of a cupboard door on which they had painted “Kherson” and an arrow pointing to a detour around a destroyed bridge on the main highway from Mykolaiv. “We are here because we wanted to help in some way. So, a few hours ago, we made the sign,” said Artem, 17. Villagers said the Russians left on Wednesday night. “They didn’t fire any shots,” recounted Hyhory Kulyaka, 54, who drove up on a scooter. “They were just gone.” (Reporting by Jonathan Landay; Writing by Tom Balmforth; Editing by Christina Fincher) View the full article
  9. Published by AFP US President Joe Biden speaks at an event hosted by the Democratic National Committee to thank campaign workers in Washington on November 10, 2022 Washington (AFP) – It’s far from official but if recent statements are any indication, President Joe Biden is girding for a 2024 showdown with former opponent Donald Trump — a duel for which most Americans have little appetite. Speaking Wednesday Biden even went so far as to say it was his “intention to run again.” The 79-year-old Democrat’s new tone — confident and upbeat — evinces the opportunity he now senses on the horizon. While the balance of Congress still remains unknown, the Republicans’ much desired “red wave” failed to materialize in Tuesday’s midterm elections, and they did not sweep as many candidates into office as hoped. Despite Biden’s new optimism, a majority of Americans — 56 percent according to a YouGov/The Economist poll from early November and even more according to some exit polls — do not want him to run again. When asked about this by one journalist, a self-assured Biden responded: “Watch me.” While he has said he will hold off on a confirmation until “early next year,” Biden has already laid a strong foundation to appeal to the electorate via reforms he hopes will propel him beyond his current low approval rating of 41 percent, according to polling aggregator FiveThirtyEight. Asked what he would change to sway public opinion, Biden responded: “Nothing, because (Americans are) just finding out what we’re doing. The more they know about what we’re doing, the more support there is.” New highways, faster internet, cheaper insulin — these are the perks which Biden hopes will win over voters. And he believes that time is on his side too. There is no rush to declare, he feels, even as Trump, 74, repeatedly promotes a “big announcement” next Tuesday. A majority of Americans also do not want the real estate billionaire to run again — 53 percent according to the YouGov/The Economist poll. Biden has often said and certainly continues to believe that he is the person best positioned to beat Trump again. And according to exit polls he is right. “Biden’s approval rating, while low, was higher than Trump’s by just about the same margin” as between their 2020 presidential scores, said political science professor Wendy Schiller of Brown University. Biden has so far not weighed in on other possible opponents, such as rising Republican star Ron DeSantis, the 44-year-old Republican governor of Florida. Asked whether he would prefer to face DeSantis or Trump, Biden said only: “It’d be fun watching them take on each other.” ‘Has to commit’ Optimism is, after all, the hallmark of Biden’s long career, which has involved two failed bids for the White House. Despite these political setbacks, Biden never quit believing in his odds, which also seems to be his modus operandi in the face of Father Time, with Biden to turn 80 later this month. His doctor a year ago said he was healthy — particularly given that Biden’s pace could easily bring a younger man to his knees. But with thinner hair, a stiffer gait and more numerous verbal hesitations, the president is beginning to look the part of an octogenarian. Even so, “being the leader of the party, it would be political malpractice for him to announce now that he was not seeking reelection because it would destroy any remaining leverage he has over Congress and in the public arena,” Schiller said. “If for no other reason than to uphold and protect what he has already accomplished, he has to commit to seeking reelection,” Schiller added. And at least for the moment, momentum is also on his side. View the full article
  10. Published by BANG Showbiz English Jane Fonda hopes to become an “example” for young people. The Hollywood star will celebrate her 85th birthday on December 21, and Jane has urged young people to not fear getting older. She explained: “I’ve lived a good life. I’ve lived a productive and intentional life. And I knew I couldn’t make it any longer than it was going to be, but I could make it wider and deeper. And I’ve done that. I feel like I’m doing that. “I hope that I can be an example to young people so they won’t be afraid of getting older.” Jane is well-known for her environmental activism, and she’s determined to do everything she can to help halt climate change. Speaking to PEOPLE, she explained: “It’s going to be rough for young people, and I just want my kids to know and my grandkids to know that I did my best.” Meanwhile, Jane previously admitted that she was “too wrapped up” in her activism during her younger years. The actress admitted that her passion for activism had an impact on her family life. Jane – who has kids Mary, 55, Vanessa, 54, and Troy, 49 – said: “I think about [motherhood] every day. It’s the one main thing about my past that I think about almost every day. And I’ll tell you one of the things that’s keying it off is watching my son, who is 47. They just had their first child and he is about a year and a half. And when I watch my son and his wife Simone parent, I’m awestruck. “It puts into such stark relief for me, what I didn’t do. I don’t think I’ve said this to him, so I feel a little weird, but anyway, that’s the reality. “Watching my son be a parent, I think, ‘God I just wish I had done that’. And then I realise, if I had done that I would not have become who I became.” View the full article
  11. Published by Reuters By Daniel Trotta (Reuters) – Chicago police are investigating a noose that was found at the construction site of the Obama Presidential Center on Thursday, an act the Illinois governor condemned as a symbol of racist hatred. The incident led to a temporary halt in construction, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing the construction consortium that is building the center. “The Chicago Police Department is aware of this matter and it is under investigation,” police spokesperson Alex Aguas said in an email. The noose was reported to police by the Lakeside Alliance, a construction team of Black-owned companies that is building the Obama Presidential Center, which will be a museum and public gathering space commemorating Barack and Michelle Obama, the first African-American president and first lady. The noose is a symbol for the lynching of thousands of former slaves and their descendants who were hunted down, killed, and often hung from trees in the Jim Crow period following the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. “The noose is more than a symbol of racism, it is a heart-stopping reminder of the violence and terror inflicted on Black Americans for centuries,” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said on Twitter. The Lakeside Alliance is offering a $100,000 reward to help find those responsible, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing an alliance statement. “We have zero tolerance for any form of bias or hate on our worksite. Anti-bias training is included in our onboarding process and reiterated during sitewide meetings. We are suspending all operations on-site in order to provide another series of these trainings and conversations for all staff and workers,” the alliance said. Construction on the site began in 2021 and the center is due to open in 2025. (Reporting by Daniel Trotta; Editing by Robert Birsel) View the full article

  13. Published by AFP Underwater explorer Mike Barnette and wreck diver Jimmy Gadomski explore a segment of NASA's Challenger space shuttle off the coast of Florida in a picture provided by The History Channel Washington (AFP) – Divers searching for a World War II-era aircraft near the Bermuda Triangle have found a piece of an entirely different sort of vessel: part of the US Challenger space shuttle that exploded soon after takeoff in 1986. The shuttle burst apart just dozens of seconds after launching from Florida, killing seven crew members, including the teacher Christa McAuliffe who had won a national screening. The Challenger segment, preserved remarkably well at the bottom of the Atlantic, is one of the largest pieces ever discovered from the space disaster, NASA confirmed Thursday. Images from the discovery, which was made in spring 2022, show two divers surrounded by fish, touching some of the shuttle’s sand-covered tiles — small squares that covered the entire underside of the ship to enable it to withstand extreme heat during its return to the atmosphere. One of the two divers, Mike Barnette, told AFP that he experienced a real “roller coaster ride of emotions” when he realized what he was touching. “When we found it, (there were) a lot of mixed emotions,” said the marine biologist, who explores ship wrecks as a hobby. “I’m used to diving on shipwrecks that are decades to centuries old, and not a piece of the space program. This is quite unique,” he said. “That turned quickly to realizing ‘Yeah, this is an episode that I lived through. When this happened, I remember exactly where I was, watching this live on TV,'” he said. After the discovery, he showed the images to an astronaut friend who confirmed it was the shuttle. A few months later, the US space agency officially confirmed it. “They were stunned and staggered by how large of a piece it was,” Barnette said. Partly buried The visible part of the shuttle is about 4.5 by 4.5 meters. But the piece extends under the sand and it is still unknown its total size. One thing is certain, however: “I can certainly say with confidence, it’s one of the largest we’ve ever found,” Mike Ciannilli, a NASA employee for more than 25 years, said of the segment. It’s definitely Challenger’s underside, Ciannilli told AFP, but it’s hard to know exactly which part of the ship. Analysis of the piece, he said, will not shed any new light on the accident itself. The cause of the tragedy is well established — severe cold caused damage to crucial rubber seals. Observing how the materials have aged could still be interesting, however. Above all, he emphasized, the discovery could help with “reigniting the lessons learned from that particular mission.” Following the January 28, 1986 accident, extensive search operations were carried out to find pieces of the ship. Ten years later, two new ones emerged on a beach after a storm. These were the last found to date. One piece is on display at a public memorial at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and others are kept nearby. ‘Honor and remembrance’ Barnette and his diving partner were looking for a World War II plane for a documentary about disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle when they discovered the Challenger piece. The first episode, which will air on the History Channel on November 22, in the end will have a space ship rather than a boat or plane for its subject. “That’s what I love about this endeavor, you go out trying to find one thing and you stumble upon a totally different mystery,” Barnette said. The site was chosen thanks to information from fishermen, who guessed there might be a wreck at the spot because it seemed to attract a lot of fish. The spot in question is west of the Bermuda Triangle, not within it, but the exact location is not being revealed so as not to attract curious onlookers. Nor would the divers reveal the depth of the seafloor at the wreckage site. According to Barnette, it would be “very easy” for NASA to recover the piece from the water, but such a move might only end up “reopening wounds.” Discussions are ongoing, Ciannilli added, but “whatever we do, our first and foremost objective is to make sure we bring honor and remembrance for the legacy of the crew, and we honor the families.” View the full article

Pence recalled the reality star saying he was “too honest” and “hundreds of thousands are going to hate your guts” when he refused to support a lawsuit giving him the authority to have Trump become president again. “I don’t want to see ‘Pence Opposes Gohmert Suit’ as a headline this morning,” Trump told Pence, referring to the lawsuit filed by House Rep. Louie Gohmert which attempted to give Pence the power to decide what electoral votes count. mega “People are gonna think you’re stupid,” Trump allegedly told Pence. “You can be a historic figure … but if you wimp out, you’re just another somebody.” “The president laid into me. ‘You’ll go down as a wimp,’ he said. ‘If you do that, I made a big mistake five years ago!’” Pence recalled of their conversation the night before January 6. After the January 6 attack, which saw several people get arrested, Trump seemed to feel remorse for his actions. “With genuine sadness in his voice, the president mused: ‘What if we hadn’t had the rally? What if they hadn’t gone to the Capitol?’” Pence wrote about their conversation on January 11. “Then he said, ‘It’s too terrible to end like this.’” Meanwhile, it seems likeThe Apprentice alum is gearing up to run for president — again. The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, has filed a motion for sanctions against Jamie Spears and his lawyers after accusing them of intentionally seeking to disclose his client’s private medical records in order to embarrass and intimidate her. In the motion, Mathew accused Jamie and his team of “abusing” the discovery process and using “bad faith litigation tactics”, after Judge Brenda Penny – who is overseeing the ongoing dispute – admonishing them at a hearing last month for submitting the records. The judge said: “As these documents have already been sealed by previous court orders, it is highly inappropriate and contrary to the court orders for Mr. Spears to offer these documents in support [of his motion]. “Mr. Spears and his counsel fail to provide any explanation as to their decision to file previous sealed documents or to oppose the present motion in light of the parties stipulated protective order.” Britney’s lawyer argued in his new filing that Jamie and his team attempted to violate the ‘Gimme More’ singer’s constitutional and common law rights to privacy by disclosing her private medical records after failing in a bid to have the court order the 40-year-old pop star to be deposed. Mathew argued Jamie has engaged in a “scorched earth litigation campaign against Britney Spears” since he was suspended as conservator of her affairs in September 2021, and has set out to embarrass and intimidate his daughter, as well as generate wasteful legal expenses to seek payment from her estate. The patriarch had submitted various attachments, including Britney’s medical records, in his unsuccessful motion to have his daughter be ordered to sit for a deposition, despite the ‘Womanizer’ hitmaker’s demand they be sealed. He wrote: “The motivation for Mr. Spears’s backdoor effort to ‘unseal’ his daughter’s sensitive, confidential information, including medical information, was to embarrass and intimidate her, and to generate more needless expense, while futilely trying to ‘vindicate’ himself.” The lawyer believes Jamie and his team should be sanctioned $20,000 and potentially found in contempt of court. 17. Published by BANG Showbiz English Paul Mescal will play a “sexy” spy in an upcoming film. The ‘Normal People’ actor is to star as anti-hero Alec Milius in the movie ‘A Spy By Nature’ – which is based on the best-selling spy novels by British author Charles Cumming. The “morally ambivalent” character is a liar and in the film he ends up in the dirty and ruthless world of modern espionage as he sells secrets about oil in a former Soviet Republic. ‘A Spy By Nature’ sees the loner graduate Milius recruited by MI6. He then decides that he doesn’t want to be a government intelligence agent but ends up in mortal danger. Director Kevin Macdonald praised Mescal’s “beguiling mixture of intelligence, skill and youth”. He is quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: “This is a modern spy story – sexy, dangerous, morally ambivalent – and only an actor of Paul’s talent could pull it off.” It is hoped that the film will mark the launch of a franchise if it proves to be a hit and the character has been compared to James Bond. The script has been written by John Hodge – with a rewrite by Joseph Charlton – and is expected to head into production next year. Paul stars in the movie ‘Aftersun’ and revealed that he used a Scottish accent for the duration of filming to perfect the brogue of his character Calum in the movie from director Charlotte Wells. The 26-year-old star said: “I stayed in accent for this throughout filming. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and Charlotte gave me her blessing. “But going to the Edinburgh Film Festival for the British premiere of ‘Aftersun’ made me nervous. It’s like taking my accent into the lion’s den.” View the full article
  18. Published by BANG Showbiz English Robbie Williams’s plans for a skincare line have faced opposition from Yves Saint Laurent. The ‘Angels’ singer made a trademark application over the summer for a beauty brand called Hopeium – which would include cleansers, serums, moisturisers, and perfumes – but the fashion house have formally raised an objection with the Intellectual Property Office, arguing the 48-year-old pop star’s proposed moniker is too similar to their own fragrance, Black Opium Eau de Parfum. A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “This has put a spanner in the works for Robbie. “Nothing can proceed until a decision has been reached. “It could be costly if he has to go back to the drawing board when it comes to the name because that could impact the whole brand and how it is marketed. “YSL feels it has a case if Robbie is selling similar products. “It’s intervention has caused headaches all around.” It was recently explained the former Take That star was very excited about his new project and felt the brand name was very fitting. A source previously said: “Robbie is open to everything and anything — and Hopeium is his brainchild. “It means having an irrational sense of optimism, which is very Robbie. “He has trademarked the name in the UK and US and it covers a range of skincare products, including cleansers, serums and moisturisers. There are scents included as well. “Robbie has always had a ‘reach for the sky’ mentality and he is willing to give everything and anything a go. “He likes being busy and this new project is something he can really get his teeth into.” Meanwhile, Robbie recently admitted he is trying to find a balance between his career and being a present father for his and wife Ayda Field’s four children. He said: “I am trying to figure out how to go on tour and be a dad. “I was watching an interview with an actor and he said he didn’t see his kids grow up. “Coming out of COVID — where I spent two and a half years with them and now I am going to do my job again — it’s like a Rubik’s Cube that brings up new things you have to figure out.” View the full article
  19. Published by BANG Showbiz English Jason Momoa “doesn’t like wearing clothes anymore”. The ‘Slumberland’ actor explained he has taken to wearing a traditional malo – a thong-like garment – while preparing for his upcoming role in Apple TV+ series ‘Chief of War’, which is set in 18th century Hawaii, and he finds the skimpy item comfortable, he now dons them all the time. Asked by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel about a recent Instagram post in which he wore the item during a fishing trip, he said: “That’s a traditional malo, it’s what the Hawaiians wear. “I’m a creator, writer, director, producer and actor on this Apple series called ‘Chief of War’. “It’s all 1780s, 1790s Hawaii. That’s what I wear every day, and I was just getting ready for the role. I like to get into character, so I was tanning my white a**. “It was a second — you go past and he just happened to take a little photo.” Asked if it is comfortable, Jason replied: “Oh my God, yes. I actually don’t even like wearing clothes anymore. I’m in it every day. I wear it all the time.” The ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ host then asked his guest if he was wearing a malo under his clothes during their interview, prompting the 43-year-old star to get out of his seat and take off his jacket and silk pyjamas until he was bearing his butt in the garment. As his 6ft 4in guest showed off his toned physique, Jimmy quipped: “Let me tell you, I’ve never felt more like Danny DeVito than I do right now.” View the full article
  20. Published by Radar Online Mega Former President Donald Trump slammed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis this week after the gubernatorial candidate won his midterm election while many of Trump’s own candidates lost theirs, RadarOnline.com has learned. In a surprising development to come just two days after the midterm elections, Trump not only targeted DeSantis but also attempted to take credit for the Florida governor’s Tuesday night win. Mega Even more surprising were Trump’s attacks towards a number of high-profile news outlets: including Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Trump reportedly said the outlets are “all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious” who he called “an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations.” That is the revelation made by Daily Mail on Thursday, who cited Trump’s attacks toward DeSantis and the news outlets while also citing the 76-year-old businessman-turned-politician own comments on the matter. Mega “Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017 – he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers,” Trump said following DeSantis’ gubernatorial reelection on Tuesday night. “Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would endorse him, he could win,” the former president added. “When I endorsed him, it was as though, to use a bad term, a nuclear weapon went off,” Trump alleged further before focusing on DeSantis’ rival at the time, Putnam. “He said, ‘I went from having it made, with no competition, to immediately getting absolutely clobbered after your endorsement.” As RadarOnline.com previously reported, a number of Republican Party members are turning their backs on Trump after Tuesday’s disastrous election results in favor of DeSantis. “GOP source tells me ‘If it wasn’t clear before it should be now. We have a Trump problem,” tweeted Jacqui Heinrich, the White House correspondent for Fox News, hours after the majority of midterm elections were called. Mega “Between being Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis tonight, you want to be Ron DeSantis,” Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s former chief of staff, echoed. “DeSantis wins tonight and Trump is not doing very well.” These startling series of events also come just one week before ex-President Trump is expected to announce his run for president in 2024 – although his advisors and a number of GOP lawmakers are reportedly urging the former president to delay the announcement. 21. Published by BANG Showbiz English Fran Drescher believes fashion’s future is “sustainable”. The ex ‘The Nanny’ star – who teamed up with ThreadUp for their eco collection – believes throwaway culture when it comes to style has to “stay back” in the past like generating 20 per cent of global wastewater and accounting for 10 per cent of all carbon emissions. The 65-year-old actress told the US edition of Vogue: “I’m outspoken about being an environmentalist. I think that moving towards sustainable fashion is definitely the 21st century, and leaving behind all the waste and disposable mentality of the 20th century has to stay back there in that century. It is interesting being on the cusp of two centuries where there are people that still have that mindset that garbage goes somewhere where we don’t know or care, but it’s out of our view and so it’s not our problem.” The collection’s creator Daniel Silverstein – who helms Zero Waste Daniel, his own eco clothing line – has always known the fashion industry hasn’t had “enough discussion” about its impact on the world. The designer told the same outlet: “I knew that there wasn’t enough discussion going on about the consumption of materials.” Daniel – a lifelong fan of Fran’s notable dress sense since the 90s – called it “the ultimate design challenge”. He said: “I know all of these things from having watched the show, having been a fan, having followed her career even since The Nanny, and all of the things that work about that iconic style. It was the ultimate design challenge.” View the full article
  22. Published by BANG Showbiz English Jay Pharoah joked women are attracted to Pete Davidson’s “endowment”. The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ star claimed he and his pal are “twins” because they both have large penisis and credited an impressive appendage as to why the ‘King of Staten Island’ actor has previously dated the likes of Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber and Phoebe Dynevor. Speaking on ‘The Jess Cagle Show’, Jay said: “I praise Pete. I praise Pete. “Hey man, it’s Pete. There’s something in the sauce. He got something, okay. He got something inside. “It’s his endowment. That’s what he told me it is. “He was like, ‘Yeah bro, it’s like nine inches.’ I was like, ‘What? Word. Oh, snap we twins. That’s crazy.’ “ But Jay also admitted he thinks women are attracted to his friend’s “sweet” side. He said: “I think Pete is just a sweet dude. He’s sweet. He’s vulnerable. “Unfortunately, he does have a lot of other problems physically he’s got to deal with. So, you know, that’s like a baby. You know what I mean? Like women might see that little, ‘Oh, he’s so cute. I’m gonna kiss him and then I’m gonna pull his pants off.’ You know, that’s, that’s what they do.” After Pete’s relationship with Kim ended over the summer, Jay joked he’s looking forward to seeing his pal date some of the world’s most powerful women. He said: “Hey, I’m proud of him. Whatever you doing, I look forward to hearing the report that he smashed Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates’ ex-wife, because she’s still a billionaire. “And whoever else is a billionaire out here is on Pete Davidson’s hit list. “You know, he gonna be, he gonna be sleeping with the queen. If the queen was still alive, he would’ve slept with her.” View the full article
  23. Published by Reuters By Jacqueline Thomsen WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Amy Coney Barrett received standing ovations from members of the conservative Federalist Society on Thursday at its first annual convention since the court overturned a nationwide right to abortion. Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch also received applause at the event of the legal group, which is one of the most influential in the country and whose members have long criticized the 1973 Roe v Wade decision that the court overturned in June. Alito, Barrett, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch have helped create a new conservative supermajority on the court. The loudest applause at the event in Washington, D.C. may have been not for the justices but for Alito’s opinion in the June ruling. Other conservative members of the court backed the ruling. Alito did not mention the ruling or other aspects of the court’s work during his brief remarks. But Stephen Markman, a former justice on the Michigan Supreme Court, said that if the ruling were forever associated with Alito, “I do not know of any decision on any court by any judge of which that judge could be more proud.” The comments were met by a standing ovation, with attendees turning to face toward Alito. Barrett also briefly spoke at the event, largely honoring the late Judge Laurence Silberman, who served on D.C.’s federal appeals court and died last month. As she took the stage, Barrett said: “It’s really nice to have a lot of noise made not by protesters outside of my house.” The conservative justices have been the subject of protests over their rulings, particularly after the abortion decision earlier this year. Thursday’s dinner celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Federalist Society, which particularly has influence in Republican circles. Leonard Leo, a long-time conservative legal activist, while serving as a Federalist Society executive helped compile a list of potential U.S. Supreme Court nominees that former President Donald Trump drew from during his tenure. Leo also spoke at the event, recalling that the first time he attended the convention’s dinner, the group struggled to fill a hotel ballroom. “Our movement has grown by leaps and bounds, and so has our impact,” he said.
