I had therapeutic massages at a physical therapist's office for years to help with some back and shoulder injuries. The straight, strictly-therapeutic therapist was excellent, so I went regularly. When he moved, he suggested another therapist.
I scheduled with the new therapist (clearly gay), who gave an excellent therapeutic massage. On the second visit, near the end, I got aroused, and he asked consent to take things from there. After a shockingly quick (and massive) finish, I apologized and tensed up. Then we had a long chat about massages with a sensual side. He mentioned how he focuses on therapeutic massage, but actually enjoys the sensual side with the right clients--he sees it as a form of connection, energy, and a way to deepen relaxation. He believes that among gay/queer men this connection is special. I'm in a committed, long term relationship, and I even brought this up to my partner (who strangely has no interest in sensual massage). My partner and I continue to have excellent sex, and I don't see these massages as "sex."
My focus with massage is therapeutic goals, but with my therapist (sorry, he doesn't accept any new clients), the sensual part of it has been incorporated into our sessions. He continues the massage after release, and I have never felt such deep relaxation. Strangely enough, these sensual massages have actually improved my own connection to my body and even improved sex with my partner.
