I like the stretchy ones that have a ball tugger built in. If I want the extra tug, I add an adjustable snap-on weighted leather band, which can get pinchy on its own. The stretchy material that makes for comfort and easy on/off is compatible only with water- based lube, tho. Using oil-based or silicone-based will break them down pretty quick. Very few over-the-counter rings are 100% platinum silicone which stand up to the full range.
Steel and cheap firm latex rubber (like o-ring gaskets) hold up longest, easiest to clean. Rubber won't set off TSA scanner if one likes to fly accessorized.
