  1. @Unicorn, very brave of you to tell us. If it happened to me, I am not sure I would have been so honest I have a close relationship with a long-time neighbor that does not include money or sex. He is six years younger and has his own group of friends. So do I
  2. So did Broadway in the 1980s with "Our Hearts Belong to Mary." Mary Martin
  3. I saw "Little Shop" this afternoon. Greatly regret I was so unprepared. Usually, I like knowing very little about a musical. But, not today. I liked Jonathan Groff a lot and the rest of the cast. Also know I was very lucky to get a seat.
  4. Exactly. I seldom watch old musicals on TCM.
  5. I will be there next February, the first time in ten years.
  6. Anna Netrebko in three Puccini operas fully staged. I believe Act One from La Boheme: Act Two from Tosca; Act Three from Turandot.
  7. I have no opinion about Al Jolson or Fanny Brice because they performed years before my time.
  8. There are many homeless here in Philadelphia also. Horrors, they are even drinking free coffee in the local Starbucks, across from the Barnes Foundation. @Epigonos, occasionally, I am embarrassed for you and your comments, especially this comment about Santa Monica.
  9. Writing that Ethel Merman's acting was very broad is a stretch, especially since you never saw her in Broadway show.
  10. Benjamin, New York had about a dozen newspapers in 1959. I was young myself back then, barely knew who Merman was until I listened to the cast album. Merman stayed with the musical in New York for two years and then toured with "Gypsy" for another year. It was the first time she ever tried such a long national tour. And then she turned down "Hello, Dolly."
