  1. I agree completely
  2. Most people here are much younger than you and I
  3. No. Certainly not for people with college degrees,or those close to college degrees @marylander1940 you must be the president of your local chapter of the Chamber of Commerce.
  4. I don't start threads based on other people's comments. Lighten up about your attempt to control the 100s of discussions/threads you start here.
  5. @marylander1940 Why are you just quoting me with no response of your own? You are way off base on retirement ages. "Hit the gym' at least made some sense although many people lost weight, including me, on their own during the current covid19 pandemic. Give people some credit for freaking knowing when to retire. Social Security allows folks to retire at age 62.
  6. Again, how is sixty-five too early, especially for men who tend to live shorter lives than women?
  7. In the Roosevelt and Johnson eras some people wanted to work in government to support the New Deal and Great Society Progress and not for the retirement benefits
  8. Age sixty five is not too early for people with pre existing conditions (heart, Cancer. arthritis, on and on). How is fifty five unfair to others. (I retired at 62).
  9. In the run up to last Fall presidential election, I stopped at Starbucks for coffee most days and to check with a 24 year old man about politics. I remember asking him if he watched the debate the night before. He mentioned that John McCain's mother had died before I knew. He left Starbucks in late November for s Job in a bank. I worked in a supermarket as a junior and senior high school student
  10. Better yet is going to Broadway shows. I saw the Boston tryout of Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand
  11. Seeing a new film in a theater is almost the same as seeing a Broadway musical performred live and broadcast on television. Close, but not the same
  12. In the 1970s, I crushed on a business client who was six years younger (not an escort). Six months later, the owner of the building where he lived asked me to move in and manage the building. True Story. We never fucked, but became very good friends. Years later we still keep in touch even though he lives in Florida now.
  13. Films were made to view in a theater, not at home. At home, one misses the audience response at an evening showing of a Spike Lee film (or in the 1950s a Billy Wilder film).
  14. Hope it goes well because isn't "Ben" from Pennsylvania? Dd he recently work at a Starbucks in that state?
  15. I enjoy watching films in a theater, not streaming on a teliviision screen. I hope "Ma Rainey..." will play in a theater soon
  16. Nomadland and The Father are playing in theaters now with masks and social distancing. So there is little reason to watch the films a streaming setting.
