  1. True, I do not visit often enough to know who Del Grego is, unless you mean El Greco. I really enjoy your posts, and thought a lot before posting this question.
  2. From Mike's article: "The self-cleaning urinal, which can be used by three men at a time, is controlled by a remote and pops up Friday and Saturday nights. In the morning it retracts back into the footpath." Very interesting. Thanks very much for posting. Wish I could give more than just one like.:)
  3. Yes, Glennnn, Memorial Day and its meaning sometimes gets lost in a holiday weekend My grad school roommate, Steve Ramsey, graduated in Dec. 1966 and was married to his girlfriend, Grace, soon after He did died in Vietnam a year later. I had one more term to go, and was broke. I did receive an invitation, but could not attend, or afford much of a wedding present (maybe $15). I hope he understood.I do visit the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, but I am upset about the wedding gift. And I eventually went to Vietnam too. He never know.. It would have wonderful to exchange stories with him.
  4. I decided to go with Little Richard rather than Elvis Presley
  5. http://www.dw.com/image/0,,18465757_401,00.jpg Patti Smith in the 1970s. Joan Baez in the early 1960s.
  6. You are right about living in the country rather than the city is about the same. To be clear, I mean the country not the suburbs.
  7. Thanks, Ed. I am going to New York in a few weeks and may just see Long Days Journey and save The Crucible for early July. I only live 90 miles from New York City.
  8. For sure. And who knows if darker clouds, but wonderful revivals, of "The Crucible" and "Long Days Journey into Night" will be running in November.
  9. Also the following site is valuable because special events, usually on Monday night, are announced on this message board. The message board in general can help as well. But many of the people who post have been there for years, so a new person would never get the helpful attention we try to provide in this forum: http://www.talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat_new/index.php
  10. The person whose thought of this forum --- Lucky. Wanted this forum for people on this site to discuss opera and Broadway. I have tried to be careful not to violate his reasoning. So I did not post the link above about weekly grosses until now.
  11. Tealady, I looked at some of your prior posts about the theater. Please post more often here. You are a legend now yourself!
  12. Glennn, are you seeing several Broadway/off-Broadway shows or just one? http://www.broadwayworld.com/grosses.cfm The above Weekly grosses on Broadway may help
  13. I watched the documentary last night for the first time. In his book about his beginning as a free lance journalist, Anderson wrote about all the chances he took in war zones. But, every journalist worth anything also takes those chances and parents worry and have many sleepless nights. Gloria and Anderson's relationship is given as problem-free. I am not sure anyone totally believes that has always been true.
  14. My sixty-six year old brother worked with Anderson Cooper recently on a story about National Parks. His assignment with Cooper was a first, but he has worked with many other journalists/celebrities before. Cooper refused to listen to the Park on not getting close to dangerous animals. And when my brother called him several times about good photo chances with the very same animals, Cooper ignored the opportunities. I remember my brother saying it was the most frustrating experience of this type in 40+ years of working for the National Park Service. So I was glad to see a kinder, slightly chill Anderson Cooper in the interview. It showed that he was perhaps having a bad few days when he worked with my brother.
  15. I have a color photo autographed by the four actors in the circa 2001 off-Broadway show, "Ten Unknowns." Donald Sutherland was already a star, but Justin Kirk, Denis O'Hare and Juliana Margoulis were not. Just looked at the photo. Juliana looks so young and attractive without the "Alicia" wig.
  16. If he's acting, it is not a big stretch for him, OneFinger.
  17. Matt is convincing.
  18. I agree completely about that thread.
  19. You are making very general comments that may, or may not, apply to every case. For example, I have had several sharp disagreements with MrMiniver. Only other people can judge if I went too far.
  20. I agree to some extent. But, regrets and conflicts are part of life. Posting problems here (as people have probably done since the beginning of this site) may be particularly helpful for escorts who travel frequently and spend little time at home.
  21. JD did not have any choice. He had to defend himself against several attacks.
  22. We may have heard it before, but it is only one side of the story. And a"story' was written after the two people are no longer friends, and not necessarily by JD's choice.
  23. Sebastian Stan was one of the stars of the recent Broadway revival of the successful 1950s play "Picnic." It's remembered most for the film with William Holden and Kim Novak. I did see the Broadway revival and greatly missed Kim Novak. Stan was fine, but far younger than William Holden. Stan seldom worn a shirt, and is a decent actor. But, he has not been cast in another Broadway show since. Too bad. Unicorn's link above is Stan in "Picnic." Unicorn lives on the west coast, so he may be unaware of Stan's theater work on and off Broadway.
  24. Patti Smith, Horses (also known as "Land") This song has a gay theme. I remember calling in to young friend's radio show and requesting this song. He and his co-DJ were not familiar with it.. After they played the song my friend defended it. The other DJ did not know what to say about the lyrics (it would not have been PC to knock the lyrics), so he just complained that it was too long. It was a private university radio station. I was surprised at the mixed reaction from two liberal students. My friend did ask me to phone in again and talk on the show. I regret saying no. Interesting experience though.

    Regrets

I am embarrassed to list the following as a regret after what others have written, especially since it happen so long ago. But, it is a singular regret. Back in the fall of 1962 at the beginning of my second year of college, a good, very attractive friend was reading James Baldwin's "Another Country." He was supposedly not gay, but confused about how many gay men propositioned him when he was on vacation with his parents in Maine. He was reading the book to try to understand gay life. I knew immediate my friend had guessed I was gay, but still in the closet. I quickly moved the conversation away instead of engaging in the subject. I missed a chance to establish a much closer friendship and perhaps a lot more. Given his history as a male model, I know now it was unlikely male-on-male sex was as new to him as he said. We stayed friends that year, but more distant friends. I was so young and inexperienced during my second year of college.
