I saw Titanique because two people whose opinions I respect assured me it was hilarious.
Those people are no longer welcome in my home.
There are bad musicals.
There are terrible musicals.
And then there is Titanique. A production so spectacularly awful that, at one point, I stopped trying to follow what was happening and instead began studying the exit signs.
For the uninitiated, Titanique is a musical parody of Titanic featuring the songs of Celine Dion and a plot that appears to have been assembled by locking several theater majors in a room with a suitcase of cocaine and a vague understanding of maritime history.
Would I recommend Titanique?
Only if you’ve exhausted all other forms of self-punishment.

The first act, especially, is non-stop musical singing and dancing for over a dozen songs.  Considering that Music Man is already my favorite musical turned movie, Schmigadoon! is an awesome tribute and the cast and production are perfect.

Wow, what a fabulous season finale. One of the best show endings I've ever seen. Ending the show with Barbra and Judy's iconic duet sent shivers through my body. Brilliant. This show is going to be seriously missed by fans.

I cannot believe this thing not only moved to Broadway but got nominated?!? It's a fun, harmless, cabaret kind of show, the kind I expect to see in Provincetown or Key West. But it does not belong on Broadway. Watch, it'll probably win a few Tonys. Insane.

This is how the show opens. The audience doesn't yet see Junior Labeija (Gus the Theater Cat). You simply hear his deep, affected voice bellow throughout the theater. This video short gives you a good idea of what the audience energy is like.

Apart from that, I've been very disappointed in this last season. It seems incoherent - every episode is a different crisis resolved in that episode, rather than the story arcs that previous seasons had.
