  1. Quality takes time.
  2. I'm so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o happy for you, @Funguy. You will have a blast!
  3. I found Chrome to work well with the Mac. My preference is Firefox, but it does tend to suck up memory.
  4. @azdr0710 , what were you thinking? Why are you putting johns in the position of sticking up for their right to degrade the guys they hire? Tricks and punters get to use whatever terms they want. What's next? Criticizing the walking ATMs who use the terms "specemin" and "morsel?"
  5. It is worth noting that an attempt was made to invoke the Defense Production Act to prevent 3M from exporting masks and respirators. ... [/url] When reading the executive order , one notices that a key passage (highlighted in purple bold italics, below) is repeated throughout the Order: "...Secretary of Agriculture shall use the authority under section 101 of the Act, in consultation with the heads of such other executive departments and agencies as he deems appropriate, to determine the proper nationwide priorities and allocation of all the materials, services, and facilities necessary to ensure the continued supply of meat and poultry, consistent with the guidance for the operations of meat and poultry processing facilities jointly issued by the CDC and OSHA...." Supermarkets started advertising for immediate job openings at the start of the pandemic hitting the US. The positions are required to re-stock, continuously clean, and deep clean after the stores close. The meat packing industry and its union should have anticipated their workers getting sick and started recruiting temporary workers to fill in. Additionally, they should have modified their workplaces, as other industries have done, to enable social distancing and increased sanitation practices.
  6. There is absolutely no evidence of an upcoming food shortage here in the Southwest. This afternoon I had to go back to the same store to pick up a prescription and noticed tabout ten packages each of two brands of paper towels (Fiora and Brawny) and about six packages of Safeway brand paper towels. Didn't buy any, but saw someone try to buy two packages (limit is one) and the store refused to sell the second one.
  7. Today I saw a rare sight at my local Safeway - a display of toilet paper! At 6:00 PM, no less. Civilization returns to Central Phoenix.

  9. It is the "Shimmer" of its era.
  10. An update on the situation over at Sugar 44 Cabaret:
  11. The kids always become the parents. In your case, it started about 25 years sooner than it does for everyone else. At least you have the apportunity to appreciate it. Thanks, as always, for the update.

I hired him more than 10 years ago. He used the same pics and even back then they were very outdated. One of the most bizarrely disappointing hires ever. Feel free to PM me for details.
  13. Thanks for the tip. The sink is oddly configured and the larger one won't fit. That said, I never have a bag of festering trash in the kitchen. The trash chute is next to my unit, so every night I remove the trash bag, scoop the cats' box, and toss the bag down the chute.
  14. Oh, thank goodness. Same here, but the bags are for litter box product. I also use them as kitchen trash bags. There's not room for a large can, so I bought a small one that hangs off the inside of my undersink cabinet door. Although they now sell bags to fit, it was originally designed for use with plastic grocery bags.
  15. Would this be the wrong place to mention the parody site called the Dysfunctional Family Circus?
  16. Whoa, whoa wait a minute. You are re-using something?
  17. Have Oak Park and Evanston started requiring full hazmat gear? I ask that with love and affection, as I enjoyed living in both communities, but they do have a tendency to go overboard.
  18. Vons was my favorite grocery store in San Diego and Safeway is my favorite in Phoenix. It pains me to like Safeway after what they did to Dominick's (preferred Jewel-Osco and always did, but Dominick's was decent before being Safewayized and closed), but even before COVID-19 Fry's (like Ralphs in SoCal) just doesn't measure up.
  19. I've heard that from friends who shop at various Mariano's. The most vocal critics are those whose Mariano's was not converted from Dominick's. One of them even said this is worse than what Safeway did to Dominick's, and Safeway ruined Dominick's. (You probably know that already unless to moved to Chicago after 1999). I asked someone at Fry's where I could find a clean cart and she pointed at the carts the guy brought in straight from the parking lot. When I asked for one that had been sprayed with sanitizer and wiped down, like at Safeway, she said they weren't doing that. I left and went to Safeway where they had two people at the door at 8:00 PM wiping down carts and handing them to customers.
  20. I do the same with hand sanitizer wipes. In my area (Phoenix) I've noticed that Safeway, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's has people walking around the store cleaning and sanitizing shelves, displays and dairy/meat cases and has people stationed at the entrances cleaning and handing out carts. Fry's (part of Kroger) does not do this. Has anyone else who lives in an area where both Albertson's (a/k/a Safeway, VONS, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw's/Star) and Kroger (a/k/a Ralphs, King Soopers/City Market, QFC, Smith's, Mariano's) noticed that Alberston's seems to be taking sanitation to a higher level than Kroger?
  21. There was an article on sanitation that warned against using sanitizer or clorox on produce. You'd think it was common knowledge that chlorine and food don't mix.
  22. Their spray disinfectant has already been added to the list, so their wipes shouldn't be far behind. Now, if Phoenix had not led the nation in paper product hoarding (GO PHOENIX!) I might be able to buy some.
  23. You are absolutely right about the need to clean the surface first. People forget about that.
  24. That's not entirely accurate. If a product is listed on the EPA's List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, then it will kill the coronavirus if the disinfectant is left on the surface and remains wet for the length of time indicated in the"Contact Time in Minutes" column of the list. The best way to search the list is by the EPA registration number, which can be found on the package, usually near the list of active ingredients.
  25. What a great idea! As we and our bones age it can get difficult to balance on a two-wheeler.
