Yesterday Richard Bonynge turned 95. I attended many performances at the Sydney Opera House conducted by Bonynge. He was often derided I think unfairly. His music making gave great pleasure and he provided wonderful support to his wife. Happy birthday Richard.

An excellent report. I have been to Brazil 9 times but not for 8 years. I am contemplating another trip. I note your positive comment about Lagoa. I have not been there in its “new” location, not so new any more, and it has received mixed reviews over the years from long time regulars and the consensus has been that it is not what it used to be. Judging by your review it is worth the effort. I was mugged in Rio on my first visit to Brazil in 2005 an experience I have not forgotten and have usually stayed longer in Sao Paulo than Rio on my various trips. I have come to the conclusion that the Brazilian rent boy saunas are for those of us of mature years unbeatable.

Antonio from Argentina and Francisco from Columbia have been the standouts for me.

I have been in Barcelona for nearly 2 weeks and have visited Thermas about 9 or 10 times. This trip certainly puts paid to the idea that Thermas is quiet in August. This is my 5th visit to Barcelona and the sauna has been very active with a wonderful array of talent. If this August is anything to go by don’t hesitate to go during this month.
