A place to celebrate facts, evidence, science, expertise, competence, freedom, and the dignity of every human being. Because universal human rights matter. None of us is free until all of us are free. Here as everywhere in the world, we encounter people and power structures seeking to marginalize historically less powerful groups like lgbtq+, women, people of color, and those with different abilities, among others. Here we embrace humanity, supporting one another as equals with needs, desires, the right to exist, be heard, and respect the rights of others to do the same. We embrace critical thinking and empathy. We stick up for the vulnerable. We fight for what’s right. This is not a place for political debate, because these are not political issues. They are moral issues. Diversity of thought is welcome, as is civil discourse based on facts, evidence, and opinions presented as opinions. Opinions are not facts. Unfortunately, some of the most toxic voices on The Company of Men are also the loudest, sucking up all the air in the room. CoM leadership protects and elevates these punching-down voices while suppressing those offering alternative views, or anyone that dares call out the toxic voices when they break the site rules. Here, we discuss site content, providers, moderator behavior, and fellow members, supporting one another in how and when to best engage (or not). You are not alone. There are other sane, normal, compassionate people on this forum. People who happen to be interested in the business of intimacy - that use their head as much as their heart in how they engage the world. Here we can chat freely, without the toxic voices screaming over everyone else or moderators quietly siding with those voices. The majority of site members are genuine, decent people.
