Sigh ... like sports, we need a separate listing.

I've just gotten a new car, with a *one* cd slot in the music system. It also has slots for *two* SD cards, and will handle up to 256 GB of music each. In my lifetime, I don't think I've listened to 256 GB of music.

So I've found some deals on iTunes ... 8 CD equivalent of the Madrigals and Songs by the King's Singers, for like $20. (got it). I have somewhat eclectic tastes. I'm not quite ready to rip 34 CDs of Scarlatti (D., not A.) to a smart card, since I've never played any of them (it's my back up copy). I may have to fix that. Love me my harpsichord.

I like classical guitar; classical vocal; anything about 1100-1650 or so, and I tolerate most Baroque when it's good. Romantic, not so much, although some of the Debussy stuff is kind of fun. Glass, Eno, and Reich are great.

[A friend said he was taking the train to NYC, and should have listened to Different Trains ... he said this to a population that would understand. He's a scholar of 14th century Italian music, but likes the minimaists, and wants to establish the MIT minimalist music consortium. Wonder if we could get a grant for that ...]

As background, I've sung Berlioz, Mozart, Martino, Beethoven, and Handel with a Major Metropolitan Orchestra, and yes, Carnegie Hall before I was 25.

So I'm looking for recommendations, as I've gone on an iTunes shopping spree, and copied all my CD's, and I've still got 60+ GB of space on my SD card.

Intriguing musical taste. (And completely different from mine, for what that's worth. Aside from the bit about the harpsichord.) How can you have an acquaintance with Berlioz's work and yet not have much interest in Romantic music! Did you mean Martini, or perhaps Martinu? I am not familiar with Martino, apart from one very short song. I find it much more difficult to talk about musical interests, or perhaps I mean more difficult to defend my taste, than to discuss painting, probably because it seems more personal.

Anyway, because of the aforesaid differences, I am afraid that nothing I would recommend would have any appeal to you so I look forward to the contributions of the other enthusiasts in the forum.
