Kind of religious, but not really: Sikh funeral

My apologies, but I need some advice.

 

A colleague and long-term acquaintance was a Sikh, and has passed on. There is a prayer service followed by a memorial in a Gurdwara.

 

I've read up on it. Any words of advice?

I'm not sure about that. I think vegetarian food would be more appropriate. They only serve vegetarian food at the langar (kitchen).

 

Also Sikhs are forbidden to eat halal meat.
