I was actually going to write a post similar to the one Rick Munroe wrote this morning in the Blogging thread regarding the annual [A HREF=http://www.weblogawards.org]2005 Weblog Awards[/A], which are taking place now. It is THE award contest for blogs - Different blogs get named as Finalists in different "Best of" categories and the winner is determined by Internet voting.

I wanted to put Rick's post and this one in a new thread so people see it and we can SUPPORT GAY BLOGGERS in the contest. As Rick pointed out, it's a contest that is usually dominated by pretty homophobic right-wing blogs, but this year there are a copule of great gay bloggers who made it as Finalists and have a chance to win if we vote for them.

Rick promoted the exact two gay-blogger nominees who are 2 of my favorite bloggers who can win the Right wing's own contest and send the homophobes into spasms! As Rick said:

The first, John Aravosis (AMERICAblog), focuses on gay civil rights and was responsible for getting Microsoft to reverse its position reversal on gay rights (they were for it, then against, now for again...thanks to his blogging efforts). . . Great site.

The other, Glenn Greenwald (Unclaimed Territory), is really interesting because he's neither liberal nor conservative; he's just very smart and thinks through the issues intelligently and with common sense. What's kind of neat is that he's been nominated for a 2005 Weblog award for Best New Blog; the contest is run by a right-wing site, and it would be so cool if a gay blogger beat all of those homophobic neocon sites in their own contest.

I'm voting once a day to help him out, and if you want to vote, do so here:

To give you a flavor, [A HREF=http://glenngreenwald.blogspot.com/2005/11/why-arent-texas-christians-voting-on.html]here's a post[/A] from Greenwald's blog which I consider to be one of the most interesting and unique takes on gay rights and Christian conservatives that I have read.

There's lots of other good stuff there - he writes about a huge range of issues, not just gay issues - and great stuff (more gay activism type-stuff) on AMERICAblog too.

VOTE NOW! SUPPORT GAY BLOGGERS beat the homophobes!
