About South Beach Miami

Always wondered about this and then I thought this would be the perfect place to ask: There is an ersatz "gym" open to the public right on the beach in SB, Miami, very close to the "gay block", which is between 8 - 9th streets I believe (haven't been in a couple of years). I usually stop by when in the neighborhood to check out the eye candy. Always a lot of hotties showing off their bodies. Many are visitors but some, at least from their demeanor, appear to be locals. So my question (and forgive if its a bit naive) - Are these guys escorts displaying the goods? After all its right by the gay section of the beach. When I'm there I see a lot of admiring going on but not any propositioning/negotiating so I could be way off on this but if anyone (doesn't necessarily have to be an escort) has any info I'd be interested.
