It's definitely a scam - I know Rocco has posted about it on Twitter a couple different times, this being the most recent -

(Others (off the top of my head - Boomer Banks comes to mind) have had this issue as well - the person behind the acct usually has some form of signup/credit card scam going on)

Thank you!

I've seen it on Grindr, but not on scruff< I've never seen any of this about Boomer. I think Rocco should lawyer up and sue.

I *believe* (AKA very well may be mis-remembering) Boomer posted on Twitter awhile back about fake profiles on grindr.

He's talked/tweeted about pursuing action, but I imagine it would largely be inefficient. And difficult to nail down the impersonators.

Frustrating all the same.

You can sue anyone for anything. Lady Justice is one busy bitch.

Now, whether a judge agrees with you or not is something else entirely.

The moral of the story remains the same: Read the TOS. Use good judgement.

Rocco as a successful pornstar would appreciate the extra publicity.

Grindr is already facing a few lawsuits concerning false accounts, one that is notable is the fake profiles luring over 1,100 men in Manhattan to one guy's home >> http://www.newnownext.com/grindr-lawsuit-fake-profile/06/2017/

Grindr's policy is basically they aren't liable and its your own fault for communicating with their users & using their platform.

Similar thing have happened on craigslist but if they cops have the time and do the effort they can always trace the IP address of origin. I'm not sure if the same can't be done on an app yet.
