in the thread about Toronto Backpage, the url/site https://hide.me/en/proxy was mentioned as a way to get around a restriction. I looked up the site, and the overview talks about using the site as a way to hide your IP while surfing the net.

Does anyone have experience using the site, and do you think it is a safe and effective way to search anonymously?

Lately, I have begun to worry about Internet Service Provider collection/sale of their customer internet usage data.

thanks!

Unless you are ready to go full Tor (and maybe even then), for practical usage, you are trusting someone with your usage history, be it your ISP, your mobile phone provider, or a VPN provider. So you have to make a decision about what data you are looking to restrict and from whom. In my opinion, it's not possible now for this to be a truly informed decision, because so much detail is being withheld from the public.

I use it to cruise the "written" reviews on rent.men and rentmen.com.

For those who don't know: Rentmen allows free text reviews, but doesn't show them in the US version of the site. Entry via VPN allows you to see them.

I always look when investigating a 411 in the Deli.
