Trey,

Search this site. I asked for similar suggestions six months ago and got some great ones. Rest assured that you're going to have a great time.

The flights will be very long. I suggest getting a good night's sleep on the way over (you'll have plenty of time to do so and still more time before and after) and on the way back. It will help immensely with the jet lag.

I didn't do the bridge walk. It takes a long time and there are lots of rules. The one that made the difference for me was the one about not taking your own camera. Had I been able to do that, I might have.

I did take a tour of the blue hills one day. I'm not normally a tour kind of guy, generally preferring to explore on my own. But the Blue Hills tour was really a lot of fun and well worth it. There are several companies that offer them. It takes up a whole day, from morning til late afternoon, but it's great and gives you an opportunity to see some really gorgeous scenary that isn't anything like the area around Sydney.

I found myself eating at some odd hours (like 4:00 am a couple of nights) because although I felt great all day, I wasn't completely on Australia time. I discovered there's a restaurant that's open 24/7 (I think) down at the pier, near where the ferries leave from (adjacent to the Opera House). It looks like a tourist trap but it actually serves pretty good food. Actually, I really enjoyed all of the meals in Sydney. The quality of the food there is very high.

You'll find Australians to be very friendly, warm and outgoing. It's a great place and you're going to have a great time. I hope to go back again sometime this year.

Enjoy your trip!

Bondi Beach for Aussie scenery viewing and I don't mean the mountains. :-) Great beach too!

The Rocks area is interesting just to walk around, harbor cruise is great way to see the city and surrounding area, Aussie's love the water. Bars are in one central area around Kings Cross - red light district for city - very mixed area.

Blue Mountains are a must - depending on how much free time you will have a trip to Great Barrier Reef and/or Ayers Rock are a must.

Have fun cutie - still thinking on weekend trip and definitely see you in Montreal!

Never been - thinking of going this November (their summer)

Number one attraction I would want to see is their LIFEGUARDS!

If you can swing it, get on down to Melbourne too. I like Melbourne better than Sydney, but both are great. Of course this time of year it will be a little cool down there.

If you find yourself in Melbourne, go to Philip Island for the Penguin Parade viewing.

Another great spot in Australia the Great Barrier Reef in the tropical North-East (daily flights with Qantas or Virgin Blue to Cairns then one hour drive to Port Douglas).

Hi Trey,

Sydney is a fabulous gay destination. All of the above is great. But don't forget to explore gay Sydney, here is their site address:

http://www.gayaustraliaguide.bigstep.com/generic.html?pid=0

Go to Oxford Street, it is amazing and has everything. This site will tell you everything about the whole country. Just do a google search and you will come up with lots of other sites.

I used a site called Gay Australia and found it very useful. Although you didn't ask for it, I used an agency which sent over a few superb guys. Here is their address:

http://www.knightcall.com.au

It was a few years ago, so they guys they sent are no longer there.

I really enjoyed my trip. The people are wonderful, though sometimes hard to understand for a North American.

Have Fun!

You'll be welcome in the Emerald City, the real Oz:

The bridge climb is overpriced and over hyped, but do go to a production at the Opera Hse,you dont have to book ahead and seeing a performance makes the experience,I think.

If you like nature, the National Parks to the Sth and Nth are a great way to see the unique plants and landscape:try a train to Cronulla and a ferry to Bundeena then a few hours walk...allow most of a day.

the Harbour commuter ferries are all great trips and Manly especially is sylvan despite the crowds....

Oxford st is great if you crave cigarettes, beer and 'bridge and tunnel' straights vomitting on your boots....

The independent escorts are real gentlemen(the tops are top),find them at Gaydar and the local Rag ,SX.The exchange rate and local rates will please.

Wotif.com is good and reliable for discount accomodation or ask Steve Draker about upper end options....

Get a map before you leave to orient yourself.

Theres lots of guides for cheap eats available in Newsagents.Good bistros, such as The Bayswater Brasserie or Becasse or Yellow House are great dining experiences.

A lot of us have reservations about the US leadership(and our own) but we love the American people.

Enjoy

A Sydney (Transit) Pass is a good deal, single or multi day passes avail. includes use of ferries and Explorer Buses which tour the city and have stops at major tourist spots (includes discounts to some attractions too) several nice museums

If you want a view from the Bridge with out the time and expense of the "Bridge Climb" for only A$8.00 (if I remember correctly)you can go up to one of the Bridge Pylons (the SE one)observation deck, includes mini museum exhibits along the stairs up.

If you take a day trip to the Blue Mts. look for one that makes a stop at Featherdale Wildlife Park...lots of native animals, much more that at the Taronga Zoo and you can pose for pic with koalas and pet the roos.

Lots of nice shopping plazas in the Central Business District (downtown Sydney), the Queen Victoria Building is cool, an old 19th century market that's now a mall.

There are Pubs out the wazoo, called Hotels there, a couple I checked out that were nice, The Columbian on Oxford street and the Australian in the Rocks area near Sydny Observtory where you can get Kangaroo Pizza

Cheers mate and have fun

Rick:-)
