any gay bar/club in Austin that is good for late 30s and 40s crowd? chance to pick up a hot you stud would be nice too... any thoughts?

For the "more mature" crowd ... The Iron Bear

For the younger crowd, the bars around 4th Street ... Oilcan Harry's, Rain, Highland

 

The Austin bar scene is small, you'll find younger and older at all of them.

 

If you're in Austin today, tonight is QueerBomb, one of two Austin Pride celebrations. It should be busy tonight, everywhere.

Agreed. The Iron Bear definitely skews oldest and I believe Rain skews the youngest, but with so few clubs available, Austin doesn't self-segregate like bigger cities tend to do.

 

I think Highland has the best variety of music. They sprinkle in enough Latin music that it seems more of a draw to Latin guys which is a huge positive in my book. (So it might just be my imagination )

 

There is also a club called "V" right across from Highland. It can be a lot of fun when it's open to the public and downtown is crowded. All of these bars except for Iron Bear are within a few hundred yards of each other so it's easy to pop in and see what the crowd is like.

I had a great couple of nights with a guy I saw on Rainey Street in Austin.

 

Oops, sorry, he and I travelled together to Austin for a weekend...
