One of my all time favorite recordings is that of E. Power Biggs playing the Fugues of J.S. Bach on the pipe organ of Freiberg Cathedral. As I have said before, and hopefully will have the opportunity to say again (repeatedly), listening to Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor is as close as we may come in witnessing the mind of God.

One of the interesting things about Biggs was the fact that, by the end of his life, he had severe rheumatoid arthritis. I recall seeing a video from that time of him playing... and the truly amazing thing was that even with his gnarled hands, his performance was, well, Biggs. I've managed to collect all (I believe) reissues of his discography on CD and love cycling through them ad infinitum. Plus, whenever I get depressed, they manage to "snap" me out of it... particularly the Bach.

(BTW, did Bach ever write anything you think is, er, lousy? I've never been able to find anything.)
