Melissa Etheridge at Grammys

I was blown away at Melissa Etheridge's performance at the Grammy's on Sunday night. Her rendition of the late Janis Joplin's 'Piece of My Heart' was right on and sounded much like the original. Melissa, who is recovering from breast cancer and sporting a bald head from the effects of chemotherapy, attended the event with her lover. here's wishing her much more success and a speedy recovery!

I agree that her performance was great. I'm not even a fan of Melissa's music normally, but I may give some of her stuff a listen after seeing her do such a good job on that Janis Joplin tune.

Ms Etheridge's performance at this year's Grammy's was, to me, one of the highlights of the night's events; she performed superbly, and I agree with the thread writer, she did sound so much as the late Janis Joplin that if I had not been in the room where the television was I would not have really known who sang this very powerful song!

Channeling Janis

 

I was in the other room when this number began. I had heard they were doing a tribute to Janis at the Grammys this year, so when I heard it, I just assumed it was a taped performance of Janis doing the song live from years ago. when I came into the room to see the performance, I was amazed. The performance had all of the energy, anguish, and fire of the real lady. Brava Ms. Etheridge.
