Since yesterday, I have noticed uncommonly rude comments by two different posters on two different threads--one from a relative newbie and one from a long time member. I hope that such disrespectful comments (cheap shots at another poster) are not a trend here.

Perhaps some people crave the attention or don't realize they are being offensive when actually trying to make a joke. I prefer to deny them the open forum spotlight by PM ing them directly with my complaint, especially if I am the target. Often I get an apology or no reply at all, when i ask, "Why?"

I am not sure how calling another poster(s) a "moron" and a "loser" could be considered "unintentionally" offensive. These were mean-spirited unprovoked personal insults. They were not playful, humorous or clever. They were nasty.

I hope you know I wasn't defending them. I didnt find them to be playful, humorous or clever, although those qualities, like beauty, are in the eyes of the individual beholder. I simply meant that if they are being offensive, an alternative to giving them their platform of pretended hurt and bewilderment and escalating nastiness is to PM them or report them if what we want is a cease and desist result. Please, I've never intentionally attacked anyone here, and don't support those who do. I apologize for not being clearer in my previous post.

After re reading this, @Despardo, I think we were talking about different posts. I did not read or mean to include any posts that called someone "idiot" or "loser" in my suggestions. Those definitely need to be reported. They are nasty.
