For those unaware, he's also incredibly talented (always a plus, eh?). He's soon coming out with the film version of the stageplay, Proof, with Gwyeneth Paltrow. Rumor has it that she was a pain in the ass to work with, but that the end result was outstanding. I suppose Jake 'suffered for his art' in this case...

 

Interestingly enough, Jake recently shaved his head for an upcoming movie he's filming about being in the army. It's not his best look, but his body is looking as buff as ever WHOOHOO!

I absolutely agree with you Benjamin as to the acting ability of Jake Gyllenhaal. There are those moments when sometimes I think if given the chance for broader roles. Jake could be the James Dean of his generation. I would love for some Hollywood director or producer to give him a chance at a period piece or something along the lines of LA Confidential and see what he's made of as an actor.

 

This is how James Cagney became successful as actor. He demonstrated his versatility from musicals to gangster roles and he even tried his hand at westerns. The public in his time loved it. I would really love to see Jake be given the chance to try other genres of film making. These days he's filming Jarhead with Lucas Black ( Friday Night Lights ). Lucas is another really good young actor who seems to find himself working with Billy Bob Thornton every five years or so. Anyways back to Jake, the aspect of his performances that I've always liked is that he plays every character on screen with great innocence. Yet in real life he's so suave when being interviewed. Offcourse like everyone, he's a total hottie and he gets better with age. I hope Jake carries on acting for a long time to come.

I'm surprised at the rave review, but I must confess that the only thing I've seen Jake in is "Donnie Darko" -- a film I found somewhat interesting but ultimately disappointing. I found Jake's performance rather uninspired in that film. Some reviews I read indicated that Jake tends to come across similarly in other roles as well. Can you recommend some of his best work?

The first time I saw him was in October Sky. I didn't know who he was, but I loved him and I love the movie. I still enjoy watching it from time to time. I thought Jake did a great job. I had no idea he would grow into such a hottie!

I've had the pleasure of hanging out with this young actor and while being very comfortable amongst gays, i'd definitely say he's not 'one of the family.' He and Kirstin make a very loving, lived-in couple...

 

Now, if Jake decides to ever experiment with another dude, then let me be the first one in line. *grin* For now, i'm just happy with his seeing his success as a young, very gifted, actor in Hollywood.
