Just saw a wonderful Spanish movie (with English subtitles), "CACHORRO" (Bear Cub) which opened on Friday. Its main character, Pedro, is a handsome middle-aged gay dentist living a sexually-active life in Madrid who takes care of his 9-year old nephew while the boy's mother vacations in India with her boyfriend. When she's arrested there for drug possession, Pedro becomes the boy's caretaker. As the relationship between uncle and nephew becomes tighter, the boy's grandmother tries to take him away feeling that the upbringing of a child should not be left to a homosexual. This is a very well acted film with excellent performances by the entire cast.

I also saw this movie, as it was part of the gay film festival in our area. I had planned on seeing all the films at the festival, and wasn't really expecting much out of this one ... but, to the contrary, found it to be a very heart-warming story. It is good to leave the theater after seeing a gay-themed flick being uplifted instead of depressed because someone dies!

Two other films worth mentioning is "Eating Out", which is quite funny and had a few hot moments and "Latter Days", the story of a Mormon boy dealing with his sexuality.
