Aww, Juan, I think that's a little harsh. He was just letting loose with his inner Italian stallion singer.

 

So often "O sole bio" is kinda belted out anyway. Gosh knows, I've heard worse - much.

Why don't you tell us what's what? It would save us a lot of time.

 

It's a beautiful song, which when sang well, can encapsulate the absolute joy of love. In the tragic American Idol culture of the day, we are often trained to believe that louder is better. It isn't.

 

If you like his performance, power to you. I have also heard worse. But the penguins sadly have only his rendition to go by.

I think it was the Penguins who initially were the actual critics and responded in a critical fashion.......

 

Perhaps if they had flown in Jonas Kaufmann the reaction might have been a bit different?!?!? However, he has been staying closer to home of late and limiting his performances away from Europe.

All I see (and hear) is a guy bundled up standing in the great outdoors with penguins around him. He begins to sing, probably as a joke, and the penguins either find it threatening or sounding like a creature is in distress (to them) and run away. The voice is not bad, the singer's intonation (from what we can tell in a 13 second clip) is acceptable, and there is no electronic enhancement as is so often the case. If you put the same singer in a studio you might be more impressed. He has decent pitch, tone and resonance. Nothing wrong with his choice of repertoire either. The clip is funny because of the penguins reaction to an unfamiliar sound, not because of the singer per se.

He sure sings better than me, good enough for a casting of "American Idol" or "The voice".
