This is totally unrelated to escorting in any way, but you are a bunch of smart people. At least most of you...:)

I recently got an Amazon Echo which is my favorite electronic gizmo purchase in years. I got it just as a toy, but it has turned out to be really useful. Love it!

One of the things that it will do is stream your Pandora playlists, so I went ahead and set some up. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I don't understand their business model. There is virtually no advertising. Why am I getting all this music for free? Is it some kind of bait-and-switch that is giving me a taste and then will want me to subscribe later?

I prefer Sporify. Unless Pandora changed you can't listen to a specific singer unless you paid like you can do on Spotify for free. And since I gave up most of my cds when I moved cross counrty everything is digital for me and Spotify (I pay for it) offers me a better product than Pandora.

No bait and switch. The free version has fewer song skips than subscription per 24 hour period. The advertising is based on behavioral marketing. Your song choices are examined by an algorithm that extrapolates what sort of products/services appeal to you based on musical tastes...and the corresponding banner ads come up. Pandora pitches to advertisers their ability to microtarget advertising.

KW could explain it to you....

On a side note I just now saw an add for Pandora that featured, are you ready for this?!?! A GAY COUPLE EMBRACING! The horror! I nearly ripped my precious pearls off my neck. Pardon me while I lie down for a spell. Lol

MikeyG, I don't know the answer to your question because I know nothing about Pandora, but damn I just got the Echo too and I am addicted to it. I moved playlists from my iTunes to the amazon prime music and i set up playlists with TuneIn. But I am loving my Echo. I wish though that I could change the voice to a British/Australian male and change the name.

I'm amazed at how useful it is. Mine is in my kitchen / family room area, but I'm thinking about getting another one for the bedroom. I definitely use the music functions the most but I'm surprised how handy the shopping list is. And I'm constantly checking the weather right before I go out the door to get a temperature check to decide what kind of coat to grab.

I didn't know you could move your iTunes playlists to Amazon Prime. I'm going to have to figure out how to do that.

Does it support Spotify as well?

Yes, but only Spotify premium for some reason. I don't use Spotify, but I assume they must have a free version like Pandora and a subscription version.
